Hi ! So I decided to watch a video on TED cause they are usually great. Here the one I chose : https://www.ted.com/talks/christopher_bell_bring_on_the_female_superheroes#t-940267

The guys who's talking is Christopher Bell, an Assistant Professor of Media Studies and the Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Communication at the University of Colorado. He talks about a topic which is really important to me : marketing for girls vs marketing for boys.
Actually you may know that despite the fact there is a lot of little girls fans of superheros (Marvel, DC and others) there is only few toys and merchandising for them or with the woman superheros such as Black Widow, Gamora or even Princess Leia : they are removed or replaced. Indeed, it seems that for Disney the thing is really clear : princesses for girls, superheros for boys.
As a little girl I've always been a big fan of superheros but I'm lucky : my parents weren't really found of this so-called "american culture" and I used to watch a lot of different things and espacially japanese animated series and God ! they have superheros for girls ! so of course Sailor Moon, Sakura and other magical girls are famous but have you seen Cat's eyes ??? Those three girls are the most badass girls I've ever seen ! Great role model and designed for girls !
So we got it : Disney chose to forget girls (consummers and heros) on their marketing campaigns for Marvel or Star War but it's not the case for DC : they will launch Wonder Woman : the fist movie with a leading woman superhero and they have a range of badass superhero doll with Mattel : DC superhero girls.

Great job DC ! However let's not forget about boys : they suffers too. Indeed, it's so much easier to be a girl who likes thing considered as "boys stuff" than being a boy who likes thing considered as "girls stuff" and this is both stupid and unfair ! Christopher Bell talks about My little Pony and a little boy who have been bullied and beaten for loving My little Pony and then tried to kill himself.

Anyway I wont write longer (I wrote a lot already...) I really encourage you to watch this video it's really great and funny ! Also it's really important to notice how unfair is our society in deciding what girls and boys should enjoy....

Well the first video i've watched is also a TED Video The content of this is presented by Danielle Feinberg, pixar's director of photography. It shows how with a mix of scientist, mathematic notions and creation the movies are created. To create one, all the pixar's team is creating a three dimensional world inside the computer first, then transformed a point into line that makes a face to create characters and worlds. And it finally create the famous univers that we all know now!
I'm really interested about this 'cause for me watching "Nemo" or "Wall-e" isn't simply characters and colors which are mooving. I'm trying to focus myself too on the work, the details, how they actually create it. In fact, each anime means years of work and a real complementary of teams! Hope you'll like it and you'll be give more attention to the creation side next time you'll see a new Pixar (or other) creation!

I've found an article about your topic but on the side of the distributors who try to change marketing and placements of the products on the shelfs.

"Target will stop separating toys and bedding into girls’ and boys’ sections" : https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/arts-and-entertainment/wp/2015/08/09/target-will-stop-separating-toys-and-bedding-into-girls-and-boys-sections/

And there is an interesting video at the end which presents a little girl who talks about this problem of sexism.

- Her father asks her : “Why do all the girls have to buy princesses?”
- She answers “Some girls like superheroes, some girls like princesses. Some boys like superheroes, some boys like princesses!”

Hum, watch a news article from an outlet like BBC, CNN, France24, RT etc... and then comment.

Not really sure how you changes the rules, but if you watched and listened to English and then commented I guess I shouldn't be complaining. I should be congratulating you on using your own iniative. So I'm sorry, Well done. cheers

I like how the little girl is so aware and angry about it! This is something I wasn't aware of when I was young. With my sisters we had loooads of dolls, Barbies and this kind of "girls" toys, and absolutely no little cars, building sets or Playmobil. I didn't know Lego before I had little brothers, which is unfair because I loved building things!
Fortunately things are changing nowadays, especially because we talk more and more about gender, sexual orientation, tolerance... Not everybody is ready but generation after generation people are getting more open-minded. Today, girls can play with boys toys, wear boys clothes, be "boyish", but the contrary is not true. We and the next generations will change that for more equality, choice, and less barriers between genders! Because it effects the way we think and act in our lives, not just the way we play.

« UK government's bid to cut net migration levels » 4 october 2016
Link : http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-37555238

The report talks about the immigration in the U.K. This topic is really important because the U.K has announced recently this exit of the Euopean Union called “Brexit”. The government justified that with main argument of immigration.

In fact, the journalist on this video seeks to know if it’s good argument and proposes an analysis of the immigrants for that, the journalist answer at 2 questions: What is the number of immigrant in U.K? who are this people who come in the U.K?

For the first one, the answer is 327 000 migrants. But the second question is more interesting because there are different profiles of immigrants. The journalist proposes 3 categories of immigrants: the students, workers, and worker’s family.

In 2015 the students are the more important category of immigrant with 111 000 people which 71 000 workers.

For escape immigration, the government had closed 950 bogus colleges and now tell at firms to take list with name of foreigners.

One other information is really important in this report: There are an important part of immigration which no come of the UE but of the rest of the world.

We can conclude the argument of immigration are not good because when U.K was in the UE, never stop with success the immigration of the rest of the world, but also the immigration serves for U.K because there are people who studding or work in majority and so brings value added in this country. In my mind, I think is not good idea to leaves UE for U.K who want only the advantage of U.E but not the disadvantage.

Yes you're right but even if people nowadays are getting more open-minded, it exists again received ideas and we don't see alot of boys practise classical dancing for example because they know they will be judge and they prefer to play soccer to keep "normal".

I've heard something about it on a documentary : in primary school when a girl wears boy clothes and becomes a tomboy, there isn't any problem because the image of a boy is better than for a girl, he is strong, he never cries, he is independant whereas when a boy looks like to a girl, teachers and parents get concerned !! Because the image of a girl is different. She is a little whiny, who need to her mother, sensible and for them, it's a real problem if their child becomes like a girl !! It's because of this sexist image, boys get afraid to play with dolls but originally girls and boys don't care to play with cars or dolls, it's the society which imposes them to prefer dance for girls and football for boys...

I love what the girl says ! I mean it's important that kids know those quite of stuff : they should be aware that they can choose to like whatever they like !! I mean things for boys and things for girls are so stupid....
I liked this article on buzzfeed it's about a little girl upset by watching the offer on a kid clothes shop: https://www.buzzfeed.com/juliegerstein/tesc-nos?bffbmain&ref=bffbmain&utm_term=4ldqpgp#4ldqpgp

Ohhh I like this girl !! She's right, what is the meaning of "HEY" ?? Or " BEAUTIFUL", it makes me think of "Be beautiful and be quiet because you are a girl and you don't know do other things". Whereas we can read "HERO" on the shirt for boy. In fact kid clothes for girls deliver always the same message, girls just should be pretty and boys should be adventurer... thanks Marketing !!!
