French Police - got to love the accents

So what do you think about this situation? Do the police need more arms, more people or do they need to change their policies? Are there really "no go" areas in France? Finally what do you think about policemen demonstarting in the streets - with their guns on their hips. Très Americain?

I agree with the french police. There is a problem with the respect of the police. In fact, they work for the France not for take risk. Evil or Very Mad

I agree with Amandine and i understand the anger of policemen. I think at the begining, they decided to do this job to help people and protect their country.

PS : I love the journalist accent when he said "Bernard Caseneuve".

I agree with you girls. But the police problem in France is a mentality problem with authority, isn't it ?

I am 200% with the police. My father is a policeman and he hardly ever speaks about his job because it is really really tough. Their motto is "Protéger et servir", they come whenever they're called for an emergency, why would people be violent with them?!
The police don't need more arms, they already can't use the ones they have without having troubles afterwards. And there definitely are some "no go" areas in France, where even the firefighters aren't welcome.
Burn outs and suicides are so common in the police, and we never hear about it. My father buried several of his colleagues, who died of their own guns. They are people just like you and me, they chose a job where they thought they would be useful, they are not weaker than you and me, but this is so much pressure, all they see everyday is misery, they never see the bright side of life, they're only needed when things are wrong.
We owe them respect, just like everybody on this Earth but also because they work for us, for peace.

The police do not seem to be part of the community in France. They are apart from it and only seen when something goes wrong. We need to get back to a system where the people believe that the Police are there to help them, where they are seen as human.

As for the demonstration, I understand and sympathise with the problem - my son is police - but I don't think that they have the right to demonstrate in France, so they are breaking the law that they are paid to uphold but more personally I didn't like to see demonstrators with guns on their hips. If trouble broke out then what alternative would the force of order have when faced with armed protesters. Leave your guns at home.
