Advertising and children Empty Advertising and children

Post by MisterSTAPS Wed Jan 11, 2017 11:44 pm

Hello everyone.

Yes I am a student of "packaging" but I would like to talk about a subject that concerns the students of "Childrenhood products". This advertising is incredible and very well made. Canal + shows that TV programs are aimed at both parents and children, with various choices.
However, this publicity is controversial. Many parents think that this advertising is violent for children and that the CSA (Conseil Superieur de l'Audiovisuel) should not broadcast it during the hours of major hearings, and add the mention "-10 years old...".

Is this advertising really agressive for children?
Did Marketers make mistakes?
What alternative(s) is possible?
What's the good way to make video for children and adults?

I actually liked this ad Smile It's well made Smile
It's true that it could seen as "violent" but i don't think the main target was kids Smile also kids see a lot of violent TV show trailers on TV so i don't think this ad is a problem.
People are so easy to do controversy....

Totally agree with you Aurelie, this ad is for adults, and it's not really violent or chocking,
I don't like the "new" Canal + with Bollore, but I think this ad is really good and well made.

I really like this ad and I'm not surprised. But, of course, the main target is adults and not children.

Are there some rules to respect when you make advertising for adults? To do not disturb children, I mean.

I am just wondering if specifics marketing methods exist to make a "good" video, which aim to everybody.

I have a different opinion about this ads, actually it is perfect for adults but certainly not the children. When you say violence it is not that obvious and as I can see it shocked you all. I will explain , based on studies and researches , kids under 7 years old can not differentiate between reality and fiction .In addition, they imitate every thing they see on these screens , I am basing my arguments on some experiments of the BBC. In my opinion, the three scenes that may have a negative incidence on the children  are: when they creaked the egg and when the chefs  cuts off the cartoon characters with the  knife and when they opened the box of series to find characters laying on ice and being ripped by a small knife as well. I mean it is an original for all of us and i could not agree more but in fact it is not quite for kids.
And for an alternative i guess we could keep the main idea of cooking but somehow turn it to be less violent for the children for instance we can avoid the knifes scenes.

I think this ad is great because of the cinematic references !
But, it can upset children because it's quite brutal, I mean to see your favorite heroes being smashed, grated, chopped, dismembered by a chef in order to be eaten. Moreover, this ad is broadcasted at the prime time when children are watching TV.

I love this commercial ! And obviously, as many of you stated it, it is meant to adults and not for kids. I just want to say that many ads not meant for children are also thrown anywhere during hours of major hearings too. This is not supprising to me.

As I read lots of books last year, such as "Out of the garden" and others, talking about the tie between commercials (on TVs and other medias) and kids, I still am convinced that children, at least mine, shouldn't be introduced to net or TV before a reasonable age. Which means not before 7years old. I agree that commercials also educate them to be consumers but parents have a strong responsibilty into monitoring them. And that is what I intend to do.

To me, most of commercials have bad influence on children (most of them !). Meaning they should be separated to those since before 7 years old they still are confused about what's real and not. That's why I intend to be radical about it.

The ad, we all agree, does not transgress moral intending and is fun and also hits well its target. So to me it is a success. Nothing should be changed.

I hate the movie 'sausage party' it's very bad, vulgare and sad for us, the human. Wen you look this movie you don't want eat food...
The big probleme it's the advertising. The advertising not shows the bad of the movie and the parents can be wrong and bring their children to look this movie....
