First week discussion topic - Donald Trump

Post by Admin on Wed Sep 27, 2017 1:04 pm

A nice easy topic for starters. The main man in the U.S.. Is he really as bad as the lefties say? Should we listen to Kim Jong Un and Lebron James instead? Can he really do any damage? Didn't half of the US voting public choose him over Hillary? What do you think? I wanna see some good points as well as the negatives here. You can do it, Yes you can.

Hi everybody,

I think we can examine his positions and measures through various filters.
On an economic point of view, Donald Trump is like his party, conservative and protectionist. He wants to make America Great Again ! So, the solution for him is to support companies on the U.S. soil with subventions, and to close borders with custom duties. He shouldn't be able to do that because of the international treaties that the U.S. have signed. And all the economic theories, as well as the facts, show that free trade is the best solution.

On a social point of view, he tried to remove the Obamacare, without success. Even some Senators of his party voted against it. The most disturbing is his famous Twitter, which spreads false news. The positive effect is that the novel 1984 of Georges Orwell was at the top of the sales of Amazon in the United States.

On a diplomatic point of view, he is worsening all the tensions, with China, North Korea and the Middle East. I'm just glad that he is against a too strong military intervention policy. His relations with Russia are also very contentious.
The U.S. are no more the leader of an unipolar world. I think America had to focus on itself, and Donald Trump whises to do this unlike Hillary Clinton.

He can't do much damage as the Commission blocks most of its decrees.

It is too long to describe all the negative aspects of the "Winner-takes-all", Donald Trump won while Hillary Clinton had 2 millions votes more him. The participation was of 55%. So, just a quarter of the US voting public voted for him and the ballot was stained with suspicions of corruption in the presidential elections and in the Democratic primary.
Donald Trump is lawful for the American system, but I don't find the American system justifiable.

Hello everybody,
We see currently, that medias are presenting Donal Trump as an awful person. I do not know if he is that awful but I use to read tweets of American citizen facing social problems and asking for the help of the president everyday and they do not get any answers or attention. Lately a woman sick of cancer was talking about her conditions and begging for him to do something for all the people having the same problems as her. And again, no attention. I think that, even if he really wants to give back to America it past great status he needs to be more concerned about the population of the country he is running and not continue to play silly games for "frighten" the other powerful presidents.

Hi,
We all know that Donald Trump is an awful person, with no acceptable values, that what he's doing with North Korea is very dangerous...

But nowing that, how is he became president of the US ?

I think that a part of the solution is in the media system. Nowadays, let's say in a developed country, no one can be president without a good understanding of the media. With his sexist or racist speeches, Trump make the media talk about him. He had what he wanted. And the more he criticized the media, the more he's on TV...

We can't also forget the fact that Hillary was a terrible candidate, hated for a good part of the population. She represent the establishment that reject the American people. It certainly help Donald..

One lesson can be learned for the American politician : if you want to be elected, you shouldn't let people think you agree with the establishment...

Hello !
Donald Trump should not be underestimated in his win on the Presidential election. He has never given up throughout the campaign, even when his loss seemed to be very close. Instead, he carried on and struggled until the end to win the Presidential election. Now days he is known because of his mischievous things. In 100 days of presidency, he throw a missile in Afghanistan.  He built wall between Mexico and America. And he provoked North Korea He is a rich business man. I'm sure that he can be re-elect after his 4 years of presidency.
I am more preocupate by the fact that he doesn’t want to make action about the global warming. Almost all the countries in the world have signed the agreement during the cop 21.
It remainds me about George Bush and the Kyoto protocol. The kyoto protocol aims is to reduce CO2 emissions of developped countries. The US dit not join the protocol which is a cause for concern because the US is the second largest polluter. This protocol was a failure.

Hi everyone,

Like several persons said, Donald Trump is someone awful. And I agree in this.

We can see lofs of news of Trump on the TV or in the newspapers, his behaviors and his politic opinions show that he is nationalist, protectionist and racist. For example he rise the taxe of importation of China and he refused to accept the refugee, and he also built the frontier entre United-Stats and Mexico... I don't think his economic and politic opinion is good for the development of E-U.

And I think he is a fractious person, he insults the media several times and he doesn't respect the women, I remember impressively that I have read one article concerning that Trump abused a newspaper woman.

Good Evening
Thanks Admin for this subject Smile

I think that Donald Trump is both Joke and Analyst. In a context of trouble social due to Election presidentials results it's necessary to apply soft power for regulate situation. Donald Trump mays be correct in the sense that's apply some politicals measures such as erasing Obamacare even if difficult but it's on the right way or limitation of human "circulation" in the U.S land (in fact it's very normal to apply his own political ASAP because he's the new man of U.S).

Apply a position of watchman concerning U.S interests for me is a good measure ; prevent expansion of nuclear tests in North Korea will rise Strongness , powerful of U.S therefore good popularity of Mr Donald Trump.

Then, He's joke because is a showman. Towards, speeching he uses great actions, great words for convince all american people in the aim to be America great again.
He's not perfect but I think that he will make the necessary for preserve the importance of United States until end of presidential moment.

It's hard to talk about 'the' true face of America. After the presidency of Barack Obama, a part of the population has been forgotten : the poor White people and the conservatives. Donald Trump represents this part of the population ; and also the disappointed of the globalization. The votes confirm that the middle class, who doesn't earn any profit with the globalization, as the Elephant Chart shows, elected Donald Trump for economic reasons.
The political duality of the U.S. parties wants to show a divided America. Reality is much more complex and I think that this duality doesn't represent well American people. They have to choose between two parties which are the opposite, while the majority of the Americans are not so different.

Hello everybody!

Until now, I'm not sure about Donald Trump but the Americans chose him for reason. Maybe, for them, Hillary Clinton's government make them feel it has not difference between her and the predecessor Barack Obama. It is said that we can not believe in a politician. People chose Donald Trump because they are tired of politicians' promises and they wait for something new. Donald Trump is a businessman and that is what the Americans is waiting for. I think the Americans realized that the US is now not the greatest country in the world. That's the reason why, they agree with Trump who want to "make America great again".

But why the US media always want to destroy the image of mister president? In my opinion, the media always want to show us the beautiful world with no war, no pollution, no crime and Trump is the one who dares say what the Americans want to say. Although he is sometime so annoying but, who know, maybe what he say is the truth.

Hello !
I think too than people chose Donald Trump because they are sicked of politicians’ promises. The American people are in need of a new face of president. I think is for this reason than Donal Trump is now President of America.
One of the things that I think is important is the fact that he did not sign the climate treaty. He says, it is for the defence of American jobs and this is not consistent with the United States’ economic recovery. This was one of his election promises.
But for me, it is a priority to deal with climate issues because this is important for the economy of tomorrow. If countries do not deal with it now, it will affect all countries in the future. But Donald Trump is a businessman, so he is mainly concerned by his country.

Hello, everyone!

I think Donald Trump tore down the hypocritical masks of many Americans, maybe some words he said are true, but many Americans are not pleased to hear it. However, I don’t think he is suited to be a politician.
From his words, it is clear that Donald Trump discriminates against woman and Latino Americans. There is not a woman who can bear an insult. Therefore, I couldn’t help but agree that he is not a good president even though he is a successful businessman. And he also has made outspoken remarks about the trade deficit with China, there is not benefit between US and China.
In short, I feel that Donald Trump is not only dangerous for the US, but also to the world.

Hi everyone

As many people, I think D.Trump is not able to run a country, especially United States who is the most powerful country. Trump was elected because of desperate people who want better standart of living. Although someone who made reality show can’t be president of the US, it’s crazy !
Personally, I’m agree with Bang Nguyen, most americans want a business man in order to run their country. But from my point of view, the environment is much more important than business. Stop thinking about money … « Make our planet great again » said Macron. It’s time to concern about air pollution, nuclear waste …

Have a good evening Smile

I think that Donald Trump has a terrible ideology. It’s someone who promote the capitalisme beacause he became rich thanks to that. And the people who don’t succes with this system is someone who don’t work. He look down of the people who don’t succes, the « common people »
But one of good side of his « good » personality is : he’s a big patriot, and he does anything to recover the past grandeur of the USA. And for this,
One of this reform is to down the society’s imposition under 20%. He want’s that the Us company become more competitive and more efficient. Same if I don’t like this guy, i can understand his desire to make USA great again.
Good bye "mes loulous"

I agree with Lauralee and Bang Nguyen, the American people want a real change. It's the same case with France with the emergence of the Front national. Indeed, they reached the second tour of the presidential elections despite their terrible ideology. Thus, the American people prefer to vote for a patriotic guy who is different from his predecessors without thinking about the consequencies.

Hi,

I remembered when Trump has been elected last November, I woke up then my housemate said to me : “Man, Trumps won”. I laughed, “very funny Ed”. He looked at me seriously, “no man, he really won”. I turned on the TV and I see : “Trumps, 45th President of US”. “Oh shit.”. How is it possible ? This man is the exact opposite of politician, he’s a businessman, a TV personality (I knew him when I saw the WWE 10 years ago !), a fucking billionaire, but never a politician.

It’s just crazy to see the American people can elect a man without respect of women, strangers, journalists, and a lot of other people. I understand they are tired of politicians (always the same, especially the Clinton’s family) but they had many other choice (Bernie Sanders for Democrats, Kasich or Rubio for Republicans) …

Today we’ve seeing Trumps isn’t able to run America and to speak on international conflicts : the situation with North Korea is very tense atmosphere (or pathetic I don’t know : “Little Rocket Man is hungry, warning Mister Trump !), he denounced Iran about nuclear program (supervised by the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action since 2015) even though Iran respected the treaty or he didn’t react on the legal possession of firearm after the attack in Las Vegas last Sunday (big lobbies, juicy business and … many deaths)…

I just think Trump cannot finish his presidency (and I hope so), first because he’s not able to lead the 1st economic country and second because he has a lot of problem with justice, especially the investigation by Robert Muller into his possible collusion with the Russian government, as they tried to influence American voters.

I had never lived in America,I can't tell about how does the Trump change the life of them. But according to these statistic obviously there are some good news for America, creating more jobs is really changing the rust belt. From an economic point of view ,this ex-entrepreneur know what he is doing. The true problem is how could the social disagreement be that huge?I heard that terrible news in Las Vegas. After this tragedy What the hell??CNN tell you those dead people are Trump supporters, they are racists... OMG they deserve RIP but not the hype.I really don’t want to see this shooting case become a politic show.

In my opinion, the reason why the US became the leader of Free World is just the winning the Cold War and defeat USSR.And the foundation of the winning is the US can take the seigniorage from the world (us dollar clearing...etc)which is earned by those brave soldiers, the F22 the aircraft carrier...and also the culture bomb:Disney coca cola MacDonald music of the Michael Jackson...The Great America is build by the national comprehensive strength in every aspects,Trump maybe want America to back to old days but the American can not.He know PC can not do all the work,he will be stumbled by PC.No offence, gender equality racial equality fraternity is totally important, but these movements are involved in the whirlpool of over-reaction between the both sides. They need a repositioning to make progress. Those people who resent these chaos created by overdone movements, they are the ticket warehouse for Trump.

When Hannibal come close to Roma, the Roman don’t care about the democracy and just want to win.If the chaos continue in America, most American may do the same thing.
Remember who is the last dictator elected by people?
Personally,I hate him,he is much richer than me and has a beautiful daughter(jealous Suspect ).And his Tweet is really silly.

As far as i'm concerned he didn't win the election he just took advantage of a system in which it's possible to alienate the real choice of the population. In the USA this is known it's not the first time in history that a candidate win the popular vote and failed the election due to the indirect universal suffrage in witch the winner in a state take the whole great voters.
I watched the debate between the candidates during the election he was that type of guy who use his time to dodge questions. It was obvious that he wasn't the man of the situation sometimes it supprises me how can someone in his posture act like he do he may be a good businessman but a country cannot be ruled like a business. he is instable maybe in his mind and those who support him that it's for the country's sake but nowadays we are in opened economies each action has its consequences. Imagine for example the muslim ban, when all the countries start doing so by banning foreigners it leads to conflicts wich can grow to war. the development of radical nationalism is dangerous for world peace.  When you only think about your country's interest denying others one the harder finding agreement will be.
Then, he's now the president but most of his main mesurements has been ruled unconstitutional.
The way he handles the Korean situation I'm afraid he's going to war, King jong un is another "badass" (sorry for the expression). There's so much verbal abuse in their speechs both of them. it looks like they seem to forget they are nuclear powers any attempt will lead to huge destruction and the effect will be worldy. The international community must take its responsability to handle this case before it get too late by bringing the protagonists to the dialogue it's the only solution that matter. finally About the iron hand that opposes Lebron James and Trump i think a president must have a sustained discourse which is not definiely Donald's case.

Hi

I think, we must highlight the media impact. Donald Trump has experience a media aggression since the beginning of its campaign, but he managed all to become to the White House. Yes, he's a clown and has stupid ideas but he became what he want to be, the president of his country. I laughed well when he win the election, maybe because it was a surprise. But Which this man i saw the defeat of media and the debility of people all around the world. Media did not want Trump like president, so today they poursuit thier attacks, and people follow media like dumb. All what he says it's exaggerate by medias. It's a Trump demonisation by the media. And i thing it's a lost of time if we talk about that. And people are not informe, They make no separation between the ideas of the person and the ideas of the US administartions. Trump has strang personnality, he often makes a lot, he like it and he is not ready to change that his expression. This is the person but like a president li ike it. Not for his politic but because he say the things the way it should be saying, whatever he speak like he want. He's the opposite of Obama who was an expert of communication. he is not better or worse than the former. All is about communication.

The US president can't do anything without the agrees of the congres, the pantagone and the State Departement. If you think Trump can change the face of the United Satate, you're wrong. He did not speak politically correct like Obama, but he doesn't say the things the way it should be saying. He say what americain people think, he was elected by them so he is their face. He is what United State's really represent, a country where blacks are descriminated and who makes war for money. We should not forget the black discimination , the americain contrative ideology, and all this thinks never changed.
