Re: Your ideas for the "other" 90 mins of English time
I have a preference for some topics which have been mentioned:
- The idea of watching a movie or a TV series seems fine to me. Indeed, with the TV series, we could watch an episode (about 45mn to 1H) and then comment it on the forum. It will be nice to have the opinion of each student about it. We could also debate on it. It will make us exercise our english skills in an entertaining way. Same idea for the movies, it will be interesting to watch a film and then comment it for the week after.
- The idea of a vocabulary session is also interesting. it will certainly help us to prepare our future marketing job.
- The games are also a good way to exercice our accent and vocabulary skills.
Finally, I really like the idea of making a debate. We could probably make a debate for 1H and give our opinion on the forum

Re: Your ideas for the "other" 90 mins of English time
Hi there,
I'm not completely sure I understood the topic but if I can add on to charlene ideas, I like the ideas of watching series and comment on it afterwards (or debating directly in class) I would even go more specific looking by looking at English, US cartoons. I feel right now there are some great cartoons coming from the US that could be interesting to explore and share opinions. I also feel it could fit well with our kids product focus and also reduce the watch time of an episode as there are generally around 11 to 24 minutes. It's more of personal preference but I think it could be interesting to try out if others are up for it.
Just some quick examples of US cartoons that could be interesting to watch:
-The Amazing World of Gumball
-Steven Universe
-Over the garden wall
-Adventure Time
-Regular Show
-Gravity Falls
-Star VS the Force of Evil
I would love to be able to discuss about those in class as there are quite popular cartoons that bring out new messages to kids and that can reach kids as much as adults.

Re: Your ideas for the "other" 90 mins of English time
Watching series is a great idea because the new season of American Horror Story has just been released (just kidding)
I was thinking of something we could do (maybe for only one session, but still). Maybe someone with some skills at Photoshop, Illustrator (or any useful software) could teach us for one hour with one project or whatever. Doing so, even if one person is talking more than the others, we could learn some skills (wanted by the companies ), ask questions, learn some vocabulary and so on...
Let me know what y'all think about that

Yes, cartoon ! These days, when I read texte that professor gave us, I realized that there are many cartoons I know. I really should watch more to make up and, of course, learn English in the same time ahhh.

My idea was to make a storytelling. We can think about a story or an event that happened in your life or we can think about an imaginary story but this story need to be possible. Because after the others should tell if the story is true or not.
I post this video to give you some example of possible stories.

Re: Your ideas for the "other" 90 mins of English time
Hello everyone,
I like the idea about debates, we can choose a topic and divide two groups, the first one agree on the idea and the other one is not, then we can prepare (in class or at home) the arguments to defend our point of view. Or it can be 3 or 4 topics at the same time so we can have more groups and more ideas to discuss.
The teacher can lead the debate
I also like the idea of Florian it can be a good exercise in a fun way.

Re: Your ideas for the "other" 90 mins of English time
Where did you find this idea Florian ? I like the concept but I'm a bad liar. So it will be difficult for me...
I suggest that we choose either a TV series or a game for the first session. Maybe we could watch an episode of Black Mirror or play to "Taboo" (not really original but anyway, it is just an idea) and then after we could make a summary with our feelings about this session on the forum.

Re: Your ideas for the "other" 90 mins of English time
Everybody doesn't have to do the same thing for the first session (or any session) but if you need a group of people it has to be organised in advance.
Re: Your ideas for the "other" 90 mins of English time
Hi,
I like the idea of a debate because everybody can talk and we can choose the theme. Each student can choose a new theme every week.
I really like the idea of Florian. It's also a good way to tell a story and speak in English. I never try this concept so it could be fun to test.
I'm not sure watching a TV series in class is necessary because we can make it at home.

Hello,
The idea of Florian is very cool. I find it interesting because it allows to speak English while having fun. It's also something new. We are not used to playing this game so it may be fun.

Re: Your ideas for the "other" 90 mins of English time
I quite like these ideas :
- Watching a series : the people chooses the series should prepare several controversial questions at the same time, so that all the students are able to discuss them at the end.
- Telling stories : every student prepare a ‘faux’ story pretended happening in their life. Actually, the stories are not true. But the aim is to try to make every people believe his or her story. On the other side, the other students ask many possible questions (the details; ‘which year’; ‘how old are you at that time’ and so on) to prove that the story is not true. If the one telling the story can not continue his ou her story, he or she loses. The next one continues …
- Debating : One student prepare a controversial topic. All the students could be divided into two groups (pros and cons). John could be our host. When the student who speaks every time, John could add a point to his or her group. At the same time, John should write down all the new arguments. The group with more points et more arguments wins the debate at the end.
- Reading a controversial article and discuss
- Watching US Cartoons
… not end

Re: Your ideas for the "other" 90 mins of English time
First session is less than a week away. Pack class are first with the other 90 minute session. I want you to decide between you who is doing what so that you are ready to start at 9am. Those who want to try the "truth and lies" game need to get together, those who want to watch something need to get together and decide what they're going to watch, or if you're going for a debate then pick teams and subject. If not let me know what it is you are going to do. Reply to this thread with the names of people who are doing an activity with you and what the activity is. c'est noté
Same thing for the Children's product group. List who is doing what here.
See you next week

Re: Your ideas for the "other" 90 mins of English time
I think TV series and games are good ideas because we can learn with playing and I think it's the best way to learn.
How I Met Your Mother is a good serie to improve the english.
Moreover, your idea Florian is interesting and I'm ok to try it.

I'm not sure I'm being clear enough!
You need to organise what you are actually going to do before Thursday so that you can do it on Thursday.

Re: Your ideas for the "other" 90 mins of English time
Hi,
I'm ok to watch TV shows or play games. Futhermore, i think we have to find what TV show or game we want to watch or play in order to don't spend our time to discuss about that Thursday.
So, I think Rick and Morty S01E09 is a great idea (because it is currently the episode i haven't seen yet )

To go along with what Charlène says, I'll come with some episodes of 'The Apprentice'. It's an american game show that judges the business skills of a group of contestants, with some tasks, competition and elimination. I talked about it to some of you, and for the others, those who are interested in our group can naturally join in

It used to be hosted by the President - before he was President. We have the same in England hosted by Alan Sugar.

I like the ideas of games and debates ! And what do you think about talk about news, in France and in the world. Marketing, economy, politics topics ?
I think that everybody does not have time to watch news everyday, and it is important to know what happens in the world for our culture.
And we can do that every Thursday during approximately 15 minutes
