The United Kingdom consists of four constituent nations: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The United Kingdom was born in 1707.
The UK remains a great power today, with considerable international influence in economic, political, cultural, military and scientific.
The country decides to leave the EU by 2018 as a result of the June 2016 referendum.
