Muslim woman poses for Playboy in hijab

Noor Tagouri talks about her identity as a Muslim American woman, how wearing the hijab helps her or not in her job as a journalist, and the under representation of Muslim women in the media.

She is super pretty, she is young, she speaks well, what a great voice for Muslim women! She says some people reproached her to have chosen Playboy, but she wants to show the world what a Muslim American woman is, she doesn't want her message to be heard only by a certain type of people and Playboy is available in many countries and is read by lots of people. Most importantly, Playboy has the reputation of objectifying and sexualizing women, and she wants to do the exact opposite in this same magazine. I like it!

She is just posing for pretty pictures and she gave an interview, she didn't pose naked, she got her message out without showing her bum.
Cause we can be pretty and clever and be liked and heard when we have the right media.
Plus, we don't see enough Muslims in the media, but this is one of the biggest religion on Earth. We see the occidental, Christian part of the world all the time, but not the Muslim occidental part.

When you read the title, you are surprised and you think that it’s impossible. So, this topic made a lot of controversy in occidental countries and also in muslim countries.
Noor Tagouri has become the first model in hijab to pose on the cover of Playboy for October edition. This woman is 22 years old and she wants to be the first hijabi journalist to be an anchorwoman on American television.
I think that she is courageous because she wants to break the rules and to show that she is a normal american woman. The section where Noor appeared is "Renegade" series which focuses on people who have "risked it all, even their lives, to do what they love, showing us what can be accomplished if we break the rules".
Noor said « when all girls realize they can do anything they want without having to sacrifice who they are as a person. » Her goal is to change mentalities in order to influence people to be more open-minded.
Indeed, the magazine playboy has changed completely its activity. Now, the magazine goes non-nude.
In my opinion, even if this magazine has negative connotation, they have changed their image and this woman wants to change the mentality and to show that there are other types of women. She spreads inspiring messages of hope and she shows that everything is possible

I didn't know her but I really like the way she thinks and how she inspires girls and people in general

I didn't know her but I really like the way she thinks and how she inspires girls and people in general

Me too, this woman is very courageous. She inspires me and she gives me hope

I think she's great too.

However Playboy is an anachronism which should never have been allowed to exist in the first place let alone make a dirty old man so rich.

I am agree with you. In fact, I appreciate the courage and the bravery of Noor. She wants to show she is a free woman and she wants to spread a message of tolerance in several communication tools

John, I don't really know the history of Playboy, but you know porn is one of the biggest industry on the internet, so it (sadly) isn't even that shocking to me that such magazines exist and have made people rich.
