What about a GAP year - Melissa and Clarisse
Melissa and Clarisse introduced possibilities for a gap year (or an internship or even a life abroad). What did you make of it?
Re: What about a GAP year - Melissa and Clarisse
Hello !
Living abroad is something that a lot of students like us think about.
It can be for holidays, for work or others reasons like voluuntering or Erasmus.
I personnaly travel few times, especially in Europe, but also few times in Morocco and one time to the USA.
That always was for holidays, never for work or Erasmus.
Living abroad is something who appeals me but who's scared at the same time.
In the future, there are some places where i could live in, not only go for vacations.
Canada always appeals for example (you can speak french and english, the USA are near of it, the culture is rich, ...)
But if one day, i'll think to move on in this country, it'll be when I got more experience in my work and try to success in Canada.
Waiting that moment, I think that I'll continue to travel, maybe East-Europe with friends.Bye !

Like Tim, I have travelled only for holidays and but I also have lived in three different countries.
Traveling and living abroad was always positive for me: I have discovered different kind of people, of cultures but the most important is; different ways of thinking. It was difficult to adapt in the begining but they all were great experiences.
Concerning the presentation, it was clear and related activities were captivating!

Re: What about a GAP year - Melissa and Clarisse
Hi,
in my opinion, it's the most interesting topic because everybody can talk about his experiences.
Personnaly, I only travelled in England and Spain, in London with my high school for a few days to visit the City Economic and Spain during holidays with my parents.
I had the opportunity to leave thanks to Erasmus in Licence 3 but in that moment i was not ready to leave for differents reasons.
Looking back, I regret because discover differents cultures, different ways of thinking can only be good for the future.
In the future, if i can, i would discover the United States.
To conclude, the geographic game at the end oh the presentation was very great !!
The most presentation for me !!

Re: What about a GAP year - Melissa and Clarisse
Hi John,
Congratulations for the big season of Leicester !! Ahahahahahahah
This presentation was interesting and clear, the girls talked about their personal experiences. So they know their subject very well and they can give examples. Moreover, they haven't read theirs notes , that's fine !
Concerning the subject, I'm not interested by an internship or a work abroad because I'm very bad in English. So it would be very hard for me.
But I like to travel and when I will have a salary I will try to travel to discover full of countries. For the moment, I went to Great Britain, Spain, Canary Islands, Greece.
Bye !!

Re: What about a GAP year - Melissa and Clarisse
Hello everybody, and thanks to Melissa and Clarisse for this topic, it was very intresting. With your presentation, I know better than before différents institutions and system if I want to work in foreign countries. I'm sure that if in the future I have opportunities, I would like to go in another countries for work or learn a lot of things. Live and work in other cultur is very interesting. I'm very attract by China and Asia. I find that this part of world is in devlopmement, and I want to see that, during big hollidays or for work (6 months - 1 year ). When I leave France for Slovakia two years ago, I was affraid about language and the country. But after some days, it was perfect and I want to do again this type of travel.
Thanks girls for your perfect presentation !

Re: What about a GAP year - Melissa and Clarisse
Hello guys.
About living abroad, thank's to the presentation I learned that there's many solutions to make it, and in many ways. More than expected.
Most of my experience abroad is like the others, in holidays. But once I got a very short internship (a week) in high school. And like in France, working isn't the fun part. But discover an other way to live, other timings for everyday life and much more is entertaining and rewarding. After a moment in a foreign counrty , world seems smaller than before.
I think if you can try an exeperience like this you've got to make it (and Erasmus is maybe the best). And I think there's more students who don't make it because of obstacles (money/family/obligation/worry) thant because they're not interested in.

Good presentation girls
it is a topic which one does not think about and which could be useful to us.
I think it is also a way to get to know other cultures and to be open-minded, to learn a language, to get away from parents and take flight. Why not Gap year in England or Canada to learn english? i need it really!
Thank you girls for your good presentation.

Re: What about a GAP year - Melissa and Clarisse
living abroad is an amazing experience. As it is with me,the most important is that I finally find myself.
I’m not a machine and I think that I need a few months(2 months more or less) off after finished one impotent thing in order to find out another interesting which I want to do next
this topic is really interesting. Melissa and Clarisse show us some good examples. THX a lot

Very interesting subject for us, an experience abroad can be very beneficial of a point of seen human, but also to improve its foreign languages. Opened questions favoring the dialogue. Interesting to have shared their experience and to incite us to make him, they knew how to catch our attention.

Re: What about a GAP year - Melissa and Clarisse
Perfect presentation from Clarisse and Mélissa. The girls have throughout their presentation captivate us by sharing their experience and different games. They have given us a taste for travel. Personally, I did not want to do a year abroad during my studies and I do not want to work abroad later. However, I like traveling a lot and Clarisse made me want to discover Italy. I only know Rome and a road trip through Bologna really delights me. In short, well played girls it was great!

Re: What about a GAP year - Melissa and Clarisse
GOOD presentation!!! I love it!
I think it is a good think to have possibilyties for a Gap year, or to travel. You can develop your skills.
But, I travel more, and i was in my 10 years out of my countries, going countries to countries.
Up to 2015, foreigners have possibilities to do civic servicies and others... but now NO! WHY?
I saw different cultures. for example, when i was in england, my neighboord (the neighboor of my brother ) offert us some cake and cookies to saw me Welcome...
I think that travelling is a good think not only to develop skills, but to take with you The most beautiful attitude of knowledge to live in community...

Re: What about a GAP year - Melissa and Clarisse
It has always been a wish of mine to take time off to go to Canada or closer to us, in the UK for a solid period of time studying there and learn about those countries that I would just love to visit. Not just backpacking but actually spending time to know people and build myself a little nest there. Actually, I think it would have saddened me to have to go back after a year

Re: What about a GAP year - Melissa and Clarisse
hello!!
A sabbatical year abroad is a very enriching experience humanly speaking.
Taking a sabbatical is a good way to discover your true personality.
At the end of your sabbatical year you already learned the basics of a new language is greatly advanced in a language that already knows you. This can only benefit you when you are looking for a job.
thank for your great presentation

It's a shame that we can't hide our name because I would leave a really good commentary about the prensentation "best presentation ever, girls were so amazing and I can't wait to travel all over the world. Thanks to them"
But we can't so I don't...

Very good presentation girls.
As we see from your subject, an experience abroad is a real asset on a resume.
I have not yet had the chance to experience this but I retain anecdotes from the people who have done it that it is a really rewarding experience. For example the fact for me to leave my country to come to study in France was not easy at the beginning but in the end, I do not regret anything. So it's just something to really encourage.
Thanks girls
