No Free ride - 11/10/17 Class follow up work.
2 hours of your colleagues talking English in a myriad different ways. It should have been thought provoking or at least interesting from a comprehension point of view. Improvement in any discipline takes effort and work and any possibility to improve (especially in a pressureless environment) should be seized with both hands and an open mind. I hope that you took this opportunity and didn't squander it playing on your telephones.
To show me that you participated and to give your colleagues the respect their work deserved I'd like you to make comments about their presentations or ask questions to which they will try to find the answers by replying in this thread.
As a Memory jog - the countries presented were: Yemen, Cuba, Costa Rica, Germany, The Falkland Islands, Libya, South Korea, Spain and India.
So, over to you...

Hi,
I would have some information about the Falkland Islands. Jake is a nice speaker, but that was too quick for me, and 3 minutes are really short. I miss a lot of information but I remind me the failure of the Argentinian army. You talked about the history, but I don't understand why there is some people on those "desert" islands as you said. So, what are the attractive points of the Falkland Islands ?

Thank you all for your presentation ! Interisting countries presented, it was great !
I didn't have the time to finish the presentation of Costa Rica. I just want you to know that this country represent 6% of the biodiversity of our planet..it seems to be wonderful to go there
PS : If you want to work in a foreign country, Costa Rica might be a destination for you : it's a very attractive country seeking a lot of persons who master languages fluently..

Hey there,
Like Arnaud I am really interested in learning more about Falkland Islands, the presentation of Jake was really really really quick and I didn't catch everything but he is a nice speaker tho, anyway I think I will do some research on my side. I didn't even know that this country existed so thanks Jake for this discover.
All the presentations was really attractive like the one about Germany with Mamadou and his colleagues, I had never, never understood why the German president was so invisible on the social medias, like he is the president so why there were only facts about the chancellor actions in the country. I was too lazy to do my own research so with their presentation I have now the answers I was looking for..
Thanks everybody

Hi,
Even if some groups didn't have time to finish their oral presentation, all the presentations were very interesting and instructive. Thank you Denis for this additional information about Costa Rica. And now, I know another country : Falkland Islands.
I'm looking forward to seeing the last oral presentations.

Hi everyone !
The presentation about Lybia was very interesting. Since the death of Khadhafi, we hear anything about this country in the medias. Before, it was one of the biggest country in Africa. I learned that since 2011, there is a civil war yet between the pro-dictator and the anti-dictator. There also no justice in this country.
At it was say before me, I thought that the presentation of the Falkland Islands was interesting, but I did not understand eveything. I didn’t know that these islands were under domination of the UK and Spain before the occupation of the argentine troops.

Hi Céline , I think that towards Jake's Presentation Falkland Island is not a country but just a territory. Particularity of this territory was very different movement from power country in the aim to control it.
Today Falkland Island belong to United Kingdom.
I would say that it was a pleasure to listen different intervention from the last course. It was a nice initiative.
Thanks

Hello everybody,
As many people have said, not everyone did not have time to finish. So, I would like to know more about Falkland Islands because I don't know this territory.

Where is Jake when so many people want to know about the Falkland Islands?
Re: No Free ride - 11/10/17 Class follow up work.
Hi,
Every group did great work. Each presentation was different and very instructive. Everybody tried to speak clearly and fluently. I know doing a presentation can be difficult especially when it's not in your native tongue (it's the case for me).
I learned lot about countries I didn't know before (like Costa Rica, Cuba or Falkland Islands) : their economy, culture, traditions, geopolitical aspect, etc.

Hello,
Like Kevin said, it was really instructive to listen to people talk about countries we dont know very well. Even searching informations about our own presentation was useful, because I didn't knew the history of Yemen.
I had a question about the presentation of Cuba. I did not understand what was the new law of January 2017. I wrote that it was a law which taxes Cuban workers in the USA. Is it correct ? And are they a lot of Cuban workers in the USA currently ? Because USA-Cuban relationships were not really good for the past decades, so I don't know if it's good now or not !

Hi,
I found these presentation very enriching. Indeed, we had specific informations about the different countries. For several countries, we have already heard in the media but less for Libya, Cuba or still the Falkland Islands.

Hi there everyone,
Well about the Falkland Islands, they consider themselves a self-governed country, despite being a BOT (British Overseas Territory) and having a British governor. And about the attractive points, well, I'm not exactly sure what is attractive about the country. I certainly wouldn't want to live on such a small island, definitely doesn't float my boat.
As for the rest of the presentations, they were all very good and well constructed. I learnt alot!
Sorry about the late answer!
