The series Narcos

I want to talk about the series Narcos which recount the Pablo Escobar’s life namely
one of the biggest criminal in the history and the stubborn fight between the Usa and the cartels of drugs in Columbia.

I have also choosen to watch Narcos ! I never watch series so i begin with the first season, episode 1!^^
In this episode, we learn how Pablo Escobar have revolutionized the drug trade (lot of killed or corruption..), and what are attributes to the main character.
There is also a narrative part, to plunge us in the story narrate by Steve Murphy a DEA agent..!

Narcos is my favorite serie. The serie is very well done, the quality is just amazing. The actors was fantastic (I'm talking about Wagner Moura who learn spanish in Colombia during 6 months and voluntarily gained weight for exemple, or Pedro Pascal and Boyd Holbrook...). The serie talk about trues events, making him more realistic. And sometimes they show us archive footage or video footage to prove that this things happened. They not only show us the story of Pablo Escobar like in the movies but it talks about the people who was in charge to capture him (CIA, DEA, the colombian police, the colombian army, the colombian government). United States played a role in that time. I like also the fact that the colombian are speaking spanish in this serie (we can understand with subtitles).

Episodes 2 and 3
The second episode shows how Pablo created a drug cartel and become the leader. His « industry » produce 10 000kg of drugs per week and he earn 5 billions dollars per year ! there is too money and they have to hide the money under the grass !Crazy moment in this episode ! we also saw an agent of the DEA who coe in Colombia and will become Pablo’s enemy.

The third episode talked about the ambition of Pablo to become the persident of Colombia. He wants to help poor people and he is persude that he can do it. It shows an other aspect of Pablo he likes money but also the power.
However he understand one thing at the end of this episod, he can do everything with money but he can’t become president only with his money.. !

I saw the first episode with the french subtitles and the second and third episode with the english subtitles. I prefer with the subtitles in english. I can read the words i don’t understand when i am listenning an episod . These 3 first episods are to understand the context and i have read that the story became more interesting at the 4 episode …

Episodes 4 to 6
It’s still about the « war » against Pablo and his crew and CIA. Pablo has some values and he loves « his Colombia ». So in one hand he’s appealing but in other hand it’s a caracter who killed a lot of people. During these episodes it’s a lot question about extradition. Pablo have only one fear : be imprison in USA. He prefer die than be extrade in USA. So when Colombians politicians decide the extradition of Narcos, he decides to enter in a « total war » against politicians and military.

This serie exposes one problem with the money and it’s explain a repartee from Pablo’s wife to Pablo : why have so much money if we can’t live in Columbia and be peaceful. Pablo has a lot of houses, cars, helicopters but when he is in Columbia he is pursue by the government.

The story attracts the audimat because it's very realistic with beautiful footage archive like you said Laila! and the man who play Pablo Escobar, Wagner Moura » is incredible. He listens his crew but speak very little. He is also very calmess. It’s also difficult to identify emotions on his face. We feel his cold blood and he is very charismatic.

This serie is really attractive. The voiceover sticks well to the serie (but I think that Murphy speak very fast in english). We enter easily in his life and the creation of his empire. (He always had problems with money as you said : Escobar made so much money, that he has to bury milions of dollars, it's insane !)
You are in the middle of the story. His life changed completly because he starts politic. At that moment, things get serious. He plunged his country into chaos and death. I find crazy that the situation of a whole country depends on the choices that he made.
The realisators managed to make him touching, more human, wich is paradoxal because he is responsible of a lot of crimes.The carachters that I liked was the cousin Gustavo and the colonel Carillo. There are both loyals and fighting for what they think it's fair.
You will see that the season 2 is much better, intense and the problematics are differents from the first season.

Episode 7 : We remain greatly concerned by the opposition between the Columbian government and Pablo Escobar who had some divergent interest. Thus , Pablo Escobar tried to kill the President through a terrorist attack in the plane but he caused the death of more one hundred people. However, the President Gaviria did not take the plane. It’s so interesting to see the new vision of people to Pablo Escobar. Indeed, a climate of war settled and people was scared by the man. To add,the gouvernment with the US announced clearly the manhunt.

Episode 8 to 10 ;
It's so interisting to see Pablo Escobar without his brother Gustavo, brutally killed by the Colonnel Carrilo against the policy of the Columbian government and the DEA. However, we can notice a confident man and it's him who decides about his future. Thus, he made a deal with the president to go in his own jail, a kind of paradise. But the DEA is determined to catch the man and follows a new manhunt with new kills and actions.

Finally saw the end of the serie. There are no big twists but we are always attract by the serie. The last epiode is for me the best ; this is the final fight against Pablo and the Columbian president…Pablo is surrounded by the army… There is a lot of tensions... BUT when you know that there is a second season, you imagine easily that Pablo will be always in life at the end of the assault, can’t have an other season if he died in the final fight..
This serie also can be considered as a documentary very interest me, i think i will watch the season 2 !

The third season of Narcos takes place in Colombia like the two previous seasons but doesn’t feature Pablo Escobar. Indeed, roughly following the actual events, the character of Pablo Escobar was killed by the police on a rooftop at the end of the season 2. This time, the producers decided to show the story of the drug cartel of Cali, a major opponent of Escobar’s Medellín cartel. I found this season quite interesting insofar as the scenario is a bit more complex, on the other hand there is less action in this one, as the Cali drug cartel was famous for trying to avoid bloodbath, contrary to Escobar. In the end it’s a very absorbing show, and I’m quite afraid of the season 4 being postponed because of a real world (unfortunately) assassination of a major local manager, who was looking for places to shoot the next season in Mexico.

The third season of Narcos is very interesting with a specific topic (to stop the cartel of Cali) and charismatic figures like Pacho Herrera who allows to forget Pablo Escobar
