Just a reminder that these discussions are part of your homework and should be done outside of class sessions. There are a lot of you who seem to be doing them in your class computer time which is when you should be doing the video comprehensions. As many video comprehensions as your level allows in the given time - so that's more than one for some of you!!!

This week's topic is Natural castastrophes.

Group A Discussion topic 3 Empty Natural Castastrophes

Post by Aurélien Lechevalier Mon Oct 01, 2018 11:23 pm

Hi mister Cox,
Today, I will talk about natural castastrophes. The island of Celebes in Indonesia was hit Friday, September 28 by a magnitude 7.5 earthquake and tsunami. The earthquake and tsunami toll on the Indonesian island has risen to at least 832 deaths. Indonesia has already experienced a more deadly tsunami in 2004. The media reports a failure in the danger alert. Several natural disasters occurred in 2018, such as hurricanes in the USA.

Have a good week.

Hi John Cox,

For me, a natural catasroph is a major adverse event resulting from natural processes of the Earth. Examples are floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, and others. A natural disaster can cause loss of life or property damage, and typically leaves some economic damage, the severity of which depends on the affected population's resilience, or ability to recover and also on the infrastructure available.

Hi John,
Today we are going to talk about natural disasters. Unfortunately for us they are full of disaster: forest fire, tsunamis, volcanoes, gales too strong. But there is also the after, that is, life must stand behind and this is often the most complicated! There are dead, proliferation of diseases, destroyed roofs, cities sometimes even a whole country ..

Hello John,

This week, we will talk about natural catasprophes. As you know, there is a tsunami in Indonesia on the 28th september which trains the death of 1 350 people. There are more and more disasters like this due to some climate change. Now, it's frequent to see floods, earthquakes, aridity summer or also storms. These catasprophes are the message that our planet isn't on the right direction to survive from the human's impact. Our habits should change to reverse this trend. This is the word of the end.

See you on Monday

Hi
Today, i am goig to talk about natural catastrophe. But why this phenomen is more and more recurrent? Probably because of global warming. The damage that man does on the planet as à result of this problem. The last week, it's indonesia who was hit by huricane and earthquake. There have many damage and many people are dead.

Hello, today we are going to talk about natural disasters. Asia is particularly affected by these earthquakes. Many scientists work to prevent this danger but it remains unpredictable and inevitable.

Hello John,

Unfortunately in front of natural disasters the man can do nothing. Earthquakes or tsunamis are unstoppable. When a country or cities are affected by these natural phenomena, we must mobilize to help them, send them food, medicine, and more help to find survivors stuck in the rubble. Personally I have never lived and I do not want to live.

Hello John, this week I choose to talk about you of the difficulties to calculate the number of victims of an earthquake.
In the year which followed the earthquake, the government of Haiti considered that the earthquake of magnitude 7,0 and its consequences had made 230 000 deaths. In January, 2011, the state employees revised the number at 316 000 death.
Contrarly at this, a study published in 2010 in the magazine Medicine, Conflict and Survival estimated at 160 000 the number of deaths. These disparities reflect the difficulty in listing the victims even in the modern era, not to mention the political quarrels which continue concerning "official" figures.
In fact, many estimations of Haiti indeed assert that the government revised the mortality rate to obtain more international assistance, what show us that we can never know if the governments tell the truth to us.

Since all the times, the naturals catastrophes had been part of the human history. When we talk about this topic, it refers to a brutal event, which touch populations and all the constructions with a lot of damages. The natural catastrophes are unfortunately more and more today. Those situations put us in danger and shows that the human society is vulnerable. We need to be informed of it and make our possible to limit those catastrophes and their dramatics consequences.

Hi John,
Today i'm gonna speak about the naturals catastrophes. Naturals catastrophes are often caused by meteorological floods (ex : cyclones, storm). This can happen anywhere in the world, but it's often in the sames places that it happens. Small islands are often affected by this.IN france they maybe small earthquakes, often not felt on the surface, the most common natural catastrophes are floods, especially for cities near the sea.

Today, I will talk about natural castastrophes.
Xynthia was a big storm in 2010. The deadliest of the 21st century with 59 dead.
It has caused many ravages in the sea, La Rochelle but also in the Vendée and Spain.
Winds were recorded at more than 238 km / h. Houses have been destroyed by ravaged families and some guard of enormous sequels.

Hello there, this week's topic is natural catastrophes, so I'm going to talk about it. There's always been natural catastrophes, even when the humans weren't there yet. This is because of these catastrophes that some animal species have been extinct (like dinosaurs).
The current global warming isn't helping to reduce these natural catastrophes, even if it's at a "smaller" scale than the dinosaur's case when a meotorite crashed onto the earth.

Hello John,

A natural catastroph is a bad event. In fact, they are bad consequences like destroye country, landscape and human lifes. It can be earthquake, hurricane or tsunami. Some natural catastroph can be cause by human activitis. Today, we have two natural catastroph who punch Indonesia. Its a earthquake followed by tsunami. They are 2000 dies people and 5000 missing. The big natural catastroph was the extinction of dinosaurs. We don’t really now what passed exactly. Peraps a météorite crashed the earth or erupting volcano but almost all dinosaurs died during this event. Peraps one day, one event like cause the diseapparence of all humans of the earth.
