The basketball in wheelchair was born as a reeducation activity for the former soldiers who had the spine destroyed because of the Second World War.
The first match was in 1946 before the expansion of this practice in different category.
Today, the sport is practiced by 25 000 persons in 90 countries of the world. Several thousands of persons play for the fun in their clubs, schools or universities.
