Hello everyone,

This week, my topic is about the famous "Silk Road". Here is the link of the article and my summary.

https://www.thechinaguide.com/fr/blog/an-introduction-to-the-silk-road

The silk road, an ancient network that connected China to the mediterranean sea, passing by asian countries, was the instrument of spreading trade and religions (christianism and buddhism) in this area.

Its appellation belongs to a German historian in the 19th century, but its existence goes back to the Han Dynasty (207 BC - 220 AD).

It consist on several different routes such as:
The northern route
The southern route
The southwestern route.

In 2014, the UNESCO designed the silk road as a World Heritage Site, referring to “Silk Roads: The Routes Network of Chang’an-Tianshan Corridor” which is home to 33 important cultural and historical sites.

In the 21st, the silk road got renewed significance, thanks to China announcement of intention to build a new Silk Road focusing on connectivity and cooperation between China and the eurasian and south asian countries.

Enjoy !

It has always been my dream to travel along the silk route from Europe to China. Unlikely to happen, but you never know.
