the big bertha

Big Bertha is a very large siege artillery piece used by the German army during the First World War. It was a howitzer 420 mm in diameter and 16 caliber long. Two models were built: first the 42 cm Kurze Marine-Kanone 12 from 1912, then the 42 cm Kurze Marine-Kanone 14 from 1914.
In France, the name of the mysterious gun used for the bombing of Paris in 1918 was often referred to as this, but it is in fact a very different model.
