With 1.3 billion chicken wings, 52 million cases of beer and 47,000 tons of guacamole devoured in less than three hours, the Super Bowl is an extraordinary day when the country consumes much food as at Thanksgiving.

We are in an unhealthy consumer society that is so damaging to our mental health, and indirectly to our physical health. The human body is an envelope of our mind, an element of our life, a motor to move forward, and in my opinion it's not made to accumulate a frightening amount of useless content that we are confronted by going on the networks. Finally, today people buy what they want and not what they need and i think it has to do with exposure to these media and social networks.

The consumer society has become very important after the glorious 30 years in the developed countries. Today, everything is managed by money. No more domain is more dependent on money. All the big companies that make a profit study the current society in order to push everyone's consumption to make even more profit. This way of thinking: always making a profit to earn a more of money, even advances in the fields of leisure and human relations. There is almost no one left who does not first think about what they will do for financial gain before embarking on a business. The consumer society has a real impact on people.

Today everyone talks to us about a consumer society without really knowing what knows. A consumer society is a society that encourages consumers to consume goods but also services in abundant ways. This is the result of a need for economic growth for companies with higher profits with lower production costs. This will lead to an overexploitation of land resources but also humans for the workforce in disadvantaged countries. To increase the sales of a product today all means are good, buying ads on social networks, or on the streets. But still phone calls to sell their products. But the problem today is that a lot of people are blaming businesses and not looking at consumers first. Today if all consumers who buy products from companies favorable to overconsumption, stop these purchases, companies would be forced to change their means of production at the risk of being closed. But this remains impossible today because of the non-culture of these concerns by a disadvantaged population, or by a population overwhelmed by these concerns.

Widespread especially in the second half of the 20th century, the concept of consumer society refers to the idea of an economic and social system based on the creation and systematic stimulation of a desire to benefit from consumer goods and services in ever greater proportions. Today everyone thinks they have money and everyone wants to have everything they want and not what they need, especially because of social networks and the Internet.

For me the consumer society has many disadvantages:

First, there is food waste and pollution. For example, according to the Planetoscope site, the French waste 1.2 to 6 million tonnes of food, or 2 to 100 kg of edible food per person. And every second, 38 kg would be thrown in the trash! However, to produce large quantities, farmers pollute the environment using pesticides and chemical fertilizers.

For example, the 7th continent is all the plastic that we throw away every day in our beautiful consumer society, part of which ends up in the oceans: 8 to 10 million tonnes spilled per year!

Rich people buy anything use just one time and throw to the bin.

Consumer society have differents advantages since the 1970s, and this has led to marked changes in people’s lives, particularly in the consumption of various products which have become more accessible, cheaper, as a result of over-production and in greater variety. The individual therefore has more choice, greater comfort and greater purchasing power.
Despite this, this consumer society remains negative because it generates waste, pollution, and has a direct impact on the ecosystem. Consumers are also manipulated by advertisements that encourage them to buy products they do not need.

Well this topic isn't my favourite, consumer society is scaring me a lot. I know how it works but if I try to protect myself from this shit, I feel a lack of consuming. I'm sad to see the world being destroy by himself, some times I think we should just start a new way of life, a new world but yeah it seems a bit anarchic. Anyway, let's throw our humanity and let consumer society screwed ourself.

First, let's start by explaining what the consumer society is. It is a society in which consumers are pushed to consume abundantly. Indeed, the advertisements, the media, the companies all our door has to consume of avanatage of thing. On the other hand, this creates social inequalities through wages because not everyone can afford to buy the super vacuum cleaner for 1000 euros for example. This company create myths so that consumers absolutely want to obtain this object, there is by manipulation. It instills from the youngest ages a form of jealousy because when a child was young we all wanted one day to have the same colorful pen, or the patterned notebook that our comrade had.
Beyond that always wanting to produce more, companies end up decreasing their resources, under pay to employ them to get more profit. To stop this, consumers should stop excessive consumption, return to local purchases, for example, so that large companies are forced to review their policy. Only in this way can it change.

Good morning all, the society in which we live is clearly a consumer society! Everything prompts us to buy, to pay! We are children raised in more than favorable conditions, everything is offered to us and we need to do nothing. It is the sad reality of things but we must move and not remain on our achievements.

In our world it has to be always faster, easier or practical so companies take advantage of it to always invent new things that will inevitably be successful.

Clearly we are in a consumer society. There is a lot of debate with this but overall I think it is a bad thing. Indeed this leads to an over consumption of raw materials but also to a massive pollution because of the means of transport which are too numerous. It is true that it is sad to say but it is also important to say that a lot of efforts are being made at the moment to limit this consumption society. but also by limiting the pollution or the materials used are recyclable and renewable
