Interesting or not? Empty Interesting or not?

Post by Admin Wed Oct 14, 2015 12:16 pm

If you find an article/news item/web site ... in English that you think would/may be interesting to your fellow Cepeians (nah! that's not a real word) You could post it here and they can please themselves whether they look at it.

For example a student (no names but let's call her "G") sent me a link to an interesting advert:

Another student - let's call her "My favourite student of the week" - wrote to me last week asking for links to further improve her very good English.

I suggested looking for foreign news sites in English to practice comprehension of different accents such as:

Aussie

open and see

I also recommended TED for it's variety of topics and ready written scripts.

hello John,
the first link you sent is not working, i hope that "G" sent the right one Shocked

i shared the video below on the class's facebook group but i guess no one really cares about irregular verbs because there were no ractions, and i was wondering if you would do that in class one day  Twisted Evil

naah i'm kidding... i just thought it would be fun to share

The first one worked went she sent it to me - perhaps it has been removed - it's not working for me now either.

In your video I think the teacher is probably fun (but even more egocentric than me!) and gets good results from making his classes interesting I must admit that I found the rap song as boring as irregular verbs and would be surprised if it actually produced results for a "normal" class.

I never teach irregular verbs, I give a list but believe the only way to really learn vocabulary is through use - reading it/hearing it in context and then using it.

Good find though.

Sorry to disagree John, but I don't think any of us would want to pay to have irregular verbs lessons What a Face

And regarding Mayotte's problem, I haven't heard of it before...

I just realize that Yara want to learn irregular verb, I think the more important is to know to use the correct forms, because I can learn my lesson by heart but my first problem is that: I don’t understand when use « ed » « ing » « had/has », and when I was younger I learned irregular verbs, but my level never improve because I never understood when use them… scratch

Interesting or not? Empty Britain's most multi-national road

Post by Admin Fri Feb 05, 2016 12:25 pm

I first left home when I was 18 years old and moved to an area called the West End of Leicester. I bought my first house in this area when I was 21. The main road 20m from my house has just been named the most multi-national road in Britain. I always loved it because you could get "milk" at 11 am at night and chips (or kebabs) at 3am in the morning:

Narborough Road Leicester
