Inside the Brain of a Gambling addict - BBC News
So I have been searching for news and all I get were depressing ones, like Hurricanes, Earthquakes, the refugee crisis and Donald Trump . And to add to my misery the news were filled will the Kardashian crysis . So I decided to try some random news search, and I found this one from BBC News.
Sorry for the disturbing eye image
My choice might not be the most entertaining one, but I suppose that when you go deeper into science and when everything is explained, it can be fun.
Basically this video goes inside a Gambling Addict's brain and explains how scientists study it. The experiment proves that “gambling addiction is not a fail of will but a brain disorder” that can be acquired.
After putting an addict in an IRM machine and watching his brain they study the results in 3 phases: (the time difference between the phases is measured in microseconds)
- Placing a bet: the brain at this point is calm and there are a little bit of thinking
- The Roulette Spin: here we have a huge difference with the brain functioning; the brain is intensively activated (full attention mode)
- The Win: it’s similar to the second phase but the only difference is that the area that generates satisfaction is alarmed.
The scientist explains that this process can become in the end a habit that leads to addiction.
Hope you like it, let me know what you think

The very interesting part is when the scientist explains how the waiting is almost the same as the winning for the gambler, minus the satisfaction. Gamblers aren't addicted to the win, they're addicted to the game, the waiting, the excitement.

Interesting
that's an interesting topic Yara. For me the first thing that came up on my mind was the movie of will smith "FOCUS" , there that part where he explains how he can manipulate a gambler addict mind. The scene is just perfect. i recommend that you watch the movie, i couldn't find the scene where will smith starts to gamble with a gambler addicted but here you go the explanation of mind manipulation that i personally found it perfect.
