Group 2 second topic - Money in Sport
You can talk about any angle involving money in sport. Salary, sponsorship, funding, fraud, corruption etc... in any or all sports.
Re: Group 2 second topic - Money in Sport
Hi, no replies yet about this subject ? surprsied...
So i think that there is too much money in professional sports, it's not the fault of clubs or leagues... if fans were unwilling to pay high prices for tickets and jerseys, then pro sports wouldn't be swimming with money and corruption. But people are so passionated and it's hard to resist...
I agree with people that say they should give money to less fortunate, help homeless people, or even help solve cancer, help starving families but we shall not forget that these athletes are exceptional, work hard, train hard and give their life for their sport...

Re: Group 2 second topic - Money in Sport
To be honest, i dont have a lot of things to say for this topic , because I don’t like sport, and I never pay attention to anything about sport, from the TV, the newspaper or even the internet, needless to say the payment in sport. But a month ago, in order to lose weight, I bought some running equipment, like the running choses and quick-dry (this is my only cost in sport this year or recent years). But after two days running, I sprained my ankle. So, I stoped my running progrmme. Since then, i promised to never do the sport any more. So,I can image that probably, my cost in sport will be acounted in my whole life.

Re: Group 2 second topic - Money in Sport
I did not like sport at all when I was a child,in fait I am not good at sport and I always failed in sport examens, especially running. In junior high school, sport occupies a important part in the examen in China.I had to run every day,I hated it so much.Nevertheless,I have progressed a lot in sport. And then in the high school,I attended yoga classes to lose weight, this is the first time that I have spended money in sport. At that time,I realised that the sport is a good way to be in good humor and relax ourselves. More important, sport can keep us healthy and make us look yunger.Later,I have spended more money in sport, for example, fitness center and yoga. Now,a lot of friends of mine are fitness fundis, they often show their fitness photos on Wechat(chinese facebook),sport is getting more and more popular.
I like watch the Olympics, and I was so excited at that time Beijing acted as the host city of the Olympics in 2008.Sport is not only sport but also a friendship and competitive spirit. It well worth spending money.

Re: Group 2 second topic - Money in Sport
We all know that the Olympics Games is the biggest and the most important sporting event in the world, the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, it cost to invest nearly 15 billion dollar, nearly three times of the 5.5 billion budget, the Greeks may have to bear nearly 10 years debt for a Olympic Games .
In the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Beijing Olympic Games investment has reached 42 billion dollar. Beijing Olympic venues despite spending huge amounts of money, but to improve Beijing's investment and financing environment, for the public and the people who want to the Beijing venture, the tourism workers and the tourists, to bring a practical convenience and benefits in the long term, Beijing has a profitable foreground for the long term. But, if these venues cannot take effective business model and the way to achieve profitability after the Olympic game, it is very confused and worried about is: who will pay for the last huge deficit ?
All the schoolmates, do you think of an country worthy spend huge money for an Olympics Games?

Re: Group 2 second topic - Money in Sport
It's true that when they reveal us the salaries of the sportsmen, it can seem impressive to us.
But when you will see companies are ready to invest the amount of money on them, they deserve well their salaries. Everybody wants to earn money, even the sportsmen. If we put back that in the order, it's rather the fans who spend the money on them, they buy products with theirs images (marketing)..... Of it, the industry of the sport is fed well. Then the "miserable" intervene, they are going all to pull most possible profits. Certainly, there are sportsmen who prefer to be recognized for them talents, others are doping to earn easy money. The sport seems to be a source of easy money to be earn.
It's necessary to question also the dangerous side of the sport. Even a top athlete can injure himself seriously. If he didn't study and cannot move in another professional activity, where come from his income ? It's for it too as they leave early to retire. More the job is dangerous, more it's better paid.

Re: Group 2 second topic - Money in Sport
hi guys, i'll talk about the salary in football, i think player's salary is easy money because they just have to play or train but are paid by millions at the end of the year, so good for them, they don't have to use their brains ^^' , just having good feet and score goals are enough.
For those who wants to bet money in the next champion's league, bet on Leicester , they're damn good now ,( i should have 0.5 point more with this comment )

Re: Group 2 second topic - Money in Sport
As Abdelnasser said, there is too much corruption and money in professional sports.
I think, It's specially right for the football, the rugby, the soccer, the boxing, the golf and formula 1 too.
But, in the other sports, there isn't too much money and corruption. I think it's just because these sports
aren't as much popular as football, rugby ....
So the money in sport mainly depends on the audience. This fact join a precedent article who speaked about
publicity in the sport. So, more there is audience, more we can probably find advertising and more there is money
in sport.
So, if the consumer is shocked by this fact, the consumer should firstly understand that it's him who watching sport
on Tv who encourage this fact.
Consumer as for the nutrition can begin by change his habit about TV.

Hmmm... Sport is life !!! how you can say that "i promised to never do the sport any more"
There is lot of benefits to do sport. You will have better health, then it's proved that sport involve the capacity of your brain. You can equally meet lot of people.
With sport you develop your body and you certainly know this sentence "a healthy mind in a healthy body"
You probably don't like sport actually, because you aren't used to doing sport. But when you can see all you can do with sport you probably enjoy it.
In practice sport, you will know more your body and can control it better. I encourage you to don't stop the sport, really !!!
Moreover, i will do an aside, if you want to lose weight, you can do it without sport. If you want some advice, i can help you.

Re: Group 2 second topic - Money in Sport
The money in the sport, uh ... what can I say ?
There is no equality in sport. The sports "less popular" have limited money, while sports such as football, basketball, ... generates astronomical salaries. In football, for example, some pro players earn millions "to run after a ball," however "these players" are an important part of the economy, they generate significant revenues (jersey sales, ...). But the money to make money, which leads to corruption and shenanigans. Sports that are less talking in the media in the last few years as the handball are mounted in power with the title of world champion, and corruption cases have appeared.
I haven't much else to say, I'm not interested in all that enough to tell about it!
Happy holiday !

Re: Group 2 second topic - Money in Sport
I am not very inspired by this topic... But like most people I am outraged to see how much you can pay people to run after a ball. I admit that they are forced to move often and make great physical efforts! But it's their job! Many people have the same constraints and not to pay for as much as well! I have also to understand that we can offer as much budget to a sport, when you see how players and those involved in the organisation of sport behave. In addition, I would stress the flagrant inequality of the distribution of the budget between the various sports.
I think he could be generous and give people who need a small ¼ of their salary and who could make good use (me for example) but hey it is good to dream!

Re: Group 2 second topic - Money in Sport
Sport is a hobby, everyone can practice sports, regardless of age, weight, height, the practitioners of health. It is often a hobby but may also become a profession, and it is at this level that sport is not equitable, in fact wage’s of professional sportive is variable, it’s depend if you are a man or a woman and the sport that you practiced. I do not understand why a such difference exist in terms of wages because all sports are interesting, it's not just football, it is also handball, rugby where wages are less important ... and I’m agree with Mathilde, wage of a footballer is so expensive...
I think that some workers plays an essential role in their companies but they are less considered as compared to a professional footballer. I know that the biggest clubs earn a lot of money with all derived products and that their are considered such a big company but for my part i think that sport it’s not a principal thing in our society.

Re: Group 2 second topic - Money in Sport
This topic ''money in sport'' reminds me of all my nike shoes. Personally, almost all the money that I spent on sports is for equipment. Though the meanings of sports are different. For some people, sport is a hobby, a profession, or a market. For me, sports and arts can not be evaluated. It just depends on how you think about it. If you don't like it, it worth nothing.

Re: Group 2 second topic - Money in Sport
Personally, I'm no longer surprised by the salaries of the Professionals. especially footballers... Of course their salaries are disgustingly high but that's the law of supply and demand. European people are massively fan of football ? Ok well then we have to give these players a wage that will reward the show they provide and the money they make us generate, that's as simple as that ! We have to understand that if football clubs pay their players as much, it’s because they can do it and they are making profits by tickets and clothes etc (even if some major clubs like Barcelona or Madrid are in debt).
One exemple that shows it perfectly is the BPL (the English Football Championship) TV rights that will increase next year, and that will ensure that even the last team in the Championship will receive £99 million, which is not so far of the huge clubs (£140 million for Chelsea and 170 for Real Madrid). How can it be explain ? Well, once again because more and more people are interested in Football and at the same time tickets price have rocketed up so people watch these games at the television.
I think Football and sport in general is a great thing, whether you practice it or just watch it (or both obviously) and I personally think that like many people I will continue to watch TV sports even if there are inequalities or corruption problems around it. Maybe it can sound naive and morally bad but I think we have to leave aside these problems and enjoy the show that is proposed. Like they use to say for gladiators, Bread and circuses !

Re: Group 2 second topic - Money in Sport
Hi, sorry i'm late
The money gangrenes the sport unfortunately, especially the soccer, which nowadays loses more and more its values of bases. But it's not necessary to amplify the influence of the money, for me it's a natural modification of the sport bound to the big influence of the sport all over the world.
At the level of the soccer, the difference of the budgets between championships destabilizies them but certain teams as Leicester arrive to create the surprise.
Unfortunately it's very often an exception, it would maybe be necessary to introduce a limit of budget, identical for all the teams of a championship, in order to return it more alive and then the money cannot influence any more in 95 % rankings.
