Mr Robot - Fabien ROGER

Hi,
I decided to watch Mr Robot.
Main character :  Elliot Alderson, informatician, hacker and junkie.
Elliot is a young anti-social programmer who suffers from a behavior disorder which urges him to believe that he can meet people only where he hacks them. He works for a firm specialized in the cyber-safety but a man known under the name of Mr Robot the approach one day to bring down a high-powered company which is a part of those whom he exactly has to protect ...

Ep 1 : The series starts in the cybercafe " Ron' coffee " where Elliot invites himself at the table of the boss of the commercial chain. Elliot tells him that he knows that his name is Rohit Mehta and that in the opening of his first cybercafe we nicknamed him Ron. Elliot also knows that he possesses 17 cybercafes and that he will soon get eight others. Elliot tells him that he likes this cybercafe because there is an internet connection with "the speed of the gigabit". Elliot began to intercept the traffic of the network and noticed something strange, then he decided to hack the system. Elliot discovered that he accommodates a Web site called " The Sons of Platon " behind the network Tor to remain an anonymous person. Ron wants a deal with Elliot, to keep those informations in exchange of money, but he doesn't want, and then, Elliot called cops.
Elliot Alderson works on Allsafe, a company of cybernetic safety. At night, he pirates the accounts of social networks and the bank statements of his knowledges, in particular those of his childhood friend, Angela, his therapist Krista, and Shayla his girlfriend who supplies him with drugs.
E-Corp who is a major customer of Allsafe Security, undergoes an attack (a rookit).
Elliot stops the attack and reassures the proof (a named file fsociety00.dat) which is in fact a message which is intended for him and which orders him to leave the file on the waiter, thing that he did to have reassured him. On the way back, Elliot is approached in the subway by Mr. Robot, the man who posted the message. He runs Fsociety, the group of hackers behind the cyberattack. Mr. Robot sets up a financial revolution which would lead a general redistribution of the wealth by deleting all the financial statements of E Corp. He wants to convince Elliot to join their cause. Firstly hesitating, Elliot finally adheres to it. He returns the technical director of E Corp, Terry Colby, a person in charge of the attack by modifying the historic file.

Ep 2 :
Elliot refuses a well-paid job from Tyrell Wellick, E Corp's new interim technology director. Elliot obtains access to Tyrell Wellick's E Corp account due to security breach.
In the media, a Colby public video circulates which states that Colby is guilty. Fsociety wants Colby to be released and E-corp to be dissolved.
Darlene goes to see Elliot to go to the offices of the Fsociety, while, normally, nobody knows where Elliot lives.
Mr. Robot and Fsociety want Elliot to hack a gas production plant, to cause an explosion. However, Elliot refuses because he does not want lives to be endangered.
Elliot decides to attack Vera because he learns that he raped Shayla. Nevertheless, Vera is the only person who provides him with drugs.
At the same moment, Ollie is hacked by Cisco through a rap album he previously sold to him.
Cisco is presented as being a member of the Chinese hacker group Dark Army. In the final scene Mr. Robot pushes Elliot from the top of a balustrade after a discussion about a painful memory about his father and in which Elliot then child had fallen from a window.

Ep 3
There is a lot of manipulators and liars in this episode. Tyrell sleeps with the secretary of his boss in order to install a rootkit on his computer. Gideon starts to suspect Elliot of being the person behind the E-corp hacking, but Elliot chose to lie and tried to avoid problems.
In my opinion, a lot of things happened in this episode, it permites to us to learn more about the main characters. I can't wait to watch the following episode.

Ep 4 :
In this episode, the main characters go to Steel Mountain. Indeed, they plan to hack the air conditioning there in order to get informations back. However, during the journey, Eliott suffers from a lack of drug, due to his withdrawal. This lack leads him to consume heroin, and provokes hallucinations. Finally, at the end of the episode, we can see that Angela, after a night spent with Shayla, decides to hack Allsafe Security.
This part is mainly focused on Elliot. Indeed, over the episode, we learn more about him. He is represented as a troubled character, addicted to morphine and controled by his inner demons. During his hallucinations caused by heroin, we get details about those demons, it concerns random moments which could have happened and it gives an other view of his life. This episode shows a part of the evolution of Angela too, she is a anxious character but she tends to take confidence over the night spent with Shayla and to start thinking about herself and her own interests.

Ep 5:
In this episode, the main subjects are the infiltration of Elliot in Steel Mountain and the failure of the Fsociety plan to attack the Chinese backup center. Elliot managed to enter in Steel Moutain by manipulating psychologically an employee and he connected his pirating device to the air conditioning system, as it was planned. Darlene learns that the Dark Army gives up the project to attack the Chinese backup center and this event seems to weaken the understanding of the Fsociety group and postpones the plan for later.
With Angela, the night she spent with Shayla seems to have helped her to think about her and about what she really needs. Indeed, she decided to break up with her boyfriend, to announced him she infected Allsafe and to go back to her father's. She looks more confident and ready to take charge of her life.
This episode highlights the weaknesses of the members of Fsociety, thanks to the observation sense of Elliot as well as the clear evolution of Angela, in the way she controls her life.

Ep 6:
There are some essential events in this episode. Firstly, the main subject is the hacking of the jail where Vera is prisoner. Indeed, Shayla has been kidnapped by Vera's brother, Isaac, and to release her, Elliot has to help Vera to go out of the jail. However, even if he manages to hack the computer network of the jail and to release Vera, and all the other prisoners, he finds Shayla dead, killed by Isaac at the beginning of the hacking operation.
Other important fact: Angela is trying to reopen the case of nuclear wastes that her family had started against E Corp and she meets the lawyers concerned by this case. Unfortunately the reopening is impossible unless she reaches to convince an inner witness to express himself.
Finally, Tyrell, with the help of his wife, is trying to find out the weaknesses of his main rival for the post of Technical Manager, Scott Knowles, and they both agree to say that seducing his wife would be the best way to affect him.
This episode shows us that Elliot, after fighting all day long to release Shayla is badly affected by the death of this one, and we can wonder how his behaviour is going to change in the next few parts, if he will fall apart, or on the contrary, if he is going to overcome this event.
We can also take into account the constant evolution in Angela's behaviour, she decides to take control of things, and to struggle against the damages that E Corp caused to her family.

Ep 7 :
There are three relevant things in this episode. Firstly, one month after Shayla died, we can see that Elliot still feels guilty about it. This event seems having dive him into a deep depression, which pushed him to see a therapist. He confesses that he hacks a lot of people, trying to struggle against the solitude he lives in.
Secondly, Angela is still trying to solve the case of nuclear wastes flood. She decides to have a deal with Terry Colby, the inner witness she needed to reopen the affair. They both agree to lie about what really happened, in their interest. But after talking with Gideon about this plan, Angela realises that is very hazardous for her, and maybe it doesn't worth it. Indeed, she will be about to be fired, but she is also going to put Allsafe in bankruptcy.
Finally, during a party celebrating the promotion of Scott Knowles, Tyrell tries to charm his wife, Sharon and convinces her to meet him on the roof. Once they are both on the roof, he strangles her, but after killing her he looks pretty much shocked by what he just did, and we can guess that he acted with anger and jealousy against Scott Knowles.
At first sight after watching this episode, we can notice the distress Elliot is dived in, and we wonder how is he going to evoluate. Since the failure of the plan of Fsociety to attack the Chinese backup, the group seems shutted down, and a major conflict remains between the members. We also can wonder what will be Angela's future, after this pact she made, which is going to change her life.

Ep 8:
In this episode, there are three important things.
Regarding Elliot (and the rest of the Fsociety group), once again he needs the help of the Dark Army, that's why Elliot meets Whiterose, the chief of this group and she explains to him why her groupe gave up to the project of hacking, accusing Gideon of setting up a "honeypot", and so, trapping the hacked Ecorp server.
Just before meeting Whiterose, Elliot learns that Angela is the responsible for the Allsafe hacking, she did it to protect herself. Elliot managed to take off the honeypot from the Ecorp server with Darlene's help, but he is more than ever suspected by Gideon.
While Mr Robot and Tyrell are dealing together, this one tries to blackmail Mr.Robot about a "dirty secret" he is aware of, but it doesn't seem have any impact on Mr.Robot. Tyrell receives the visit of two cops who suspect him to have murdered Sharon Knowles, his wife diverts attention by pretending to be about to give birth.
Finally, we learn that Darlene and Elliot are sisters and brothers after this one tried to kiss her and that Mr.Robot is actually his father.
This episode highlights several sides of Elliot's behaviour. He is a very troubled character, with schizophrenic tendencies. He forgot everything about his life, but at the end of the episode, a lot of details about his childhood came back to him and make him remember that Darlene is his sister.

Ep 9:
A flashback, which takes place in 1994 in the computer repair shop named "Mr. Robot" held by Elliot's father, shows a customer complaining that the young Elliot stole money from him. Then an accelerated shows the front of the shop change to become an agency of E. Corp. After Mr. Robot told the story to Elliot, the latter got excited.

After the birth of their son, Joanna tells Tyrell that he must keep control of the situation

The CEO of E. Corp announces to Tyrell that he is dismissed following rumors about the rivality between him and Knowles and the suspicions of the police. His last decision is to prevent Gideon from disconnecting the infected server that contains the honeypot. Gideon, who came to recover the hard drives that Elliot had deposited, finds the data recovery store victim of a fire. Gideon comes in contact with someone responsible for servers. He tells him that the server must remain a honeypot and that it must be someone else who made the request to remove it and reconnect it to the network.

Mr. Robot and Elliot go to the house of his childhood. Overwhelmed by his memories, Elliot pushes Mr. Robot through the same window through which he passed at the age of eight. Angela and Darlene follow Elliot to the cemetery. Before the two young women joined them. When they arrive, Elliot is alone in front of his father's grave. He realized that he had endorsed the personality of his father
Terry Colby visits Angela's father to offer him a job at Evil Corp since she took a big risk and got what she wanted. Terry Colby told him that at the time of the flight, they had created a support fund, now five times larger than what will be recovered by the trial. Tyrell visits Elliot and threatens to reveal Fsociety's plan. Elliot realizes that Tyrell wants to take advantage of this plan. They agree to work together and Elliot glances at the popcorn machine where Darlene's weapon is hidden.

Mr ROBOT IIS Elliot

Ep 10 :
Elliot wakes up alone in the Tyrell vehicle three days after the conclusion of the last episode, without any recollection of these three days. The financial piracy designed by Fsociety took place according to the plans which causes chaos throughout the world and manifestations in which the participants wear masks of Fsociety.

While Elliot is looking for Tyrell and Fsociety members are destroying their computer hardware to clear their tracks, E Corp, where Angela is working from now on, is trying to re-establish the situation. In a television interview attended by Angela, one of the directors commits suicide live after stating that the situation was desperate.

Under the influence of his schizophrenia, Elliot returns Mr Robot and questions him about the disappearance of Tyrell. Elliot doubts what he sees in these demonstrations, which applaud the disappearance of money. He then sees Mr Robot declare that the world today is no longer real since the people abandoned it to the hands of big companies. He advises her to take advantage of the chaos that now reigns throughout the planet.
The episode ends with Elliot - still without news of Tyrell - who opens the door of his apartment because someone just knocked.
