The Olympic Games, what a great event for all of us ! First i will describe briefly the organisation and the goal of the olympic games. There are many disciplines like 100m race, pole vaulting, basket-ball (United States always win..) and many others... But i want to talk about the Olympic Games of 1936 in Berlin. These games shocked me because of the rules that the black men had to endure. I want to talk about Jesse Owens (black man) who inspired a filmmaker in "La Couleur De La Victoire", it shows that Jesse Owens won 3 golds medals in 3 differents categories. But even if Jesse Owens became a real hero for the black community, leaders of Germany who were racist refused to congratulate him. This story shows the injustice of racism and teaches us that Olympic Games doesn't accept racism aymore.

Post by Chagrelle Owen Fri Sep 22, 2017 7:06 pm

The Olympic Games were not always that we know. In fact the 1st Olympic Games in Iphitos in 776 before J.C. was invented in order to calm anger of Zeus and to stop the plague. Everybody can participate at these games except the woman and the slave. There are no professionals but some people were more powerfull like Millon of Crotone who was a star who picked up a lot of title. The 1st Olympic Games were barbarous, for example at the end of a football game, the defeat team had to sacrifice a player. Since the Olympics Games evolved.

The Olympic Games are a big sport meeting. It gather almost all sports of the planet. This meeting who takes place every 4 years, is the event the most followed in the world with 3.6 billions viewer.
This notoriety is interesting for some sports a little bit famous. It allow for these sports to get more adherent and widen its notoriety. Generally Olympic Games are assimilate to joy, party... but it doesn't prevent some deviations like cheating or doping. It harm to Olympic games because some reals winner will not receive their medals. It's for this reason Russians athletes can't go to athletics ordeals.

Today I'm gonna talk about the Olympic Games. This is the biggest and most prestigious of the competitions. The Olympic Games are held every four years, with the Summer and Winter Games alternating by occurring every four years but two years apart. This competition brings together over two hundred different nations around the world as well as thousands of athletes. The last Winter Games were organized in Sochi (Russia) in 2014 and the last Summer Games were organized in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) in 2016. To finish, last week the IOC announced the candidature of France for Paris 2024 validated! For France is great news for both citizens and athletes, it had been since 1924 that France had not accepted the games.

This week we are going to have like subject Olympics. The next Olympics organized in France are 2024. What an enjoyment, after a century of wait! However with an international event and the war against the terrorism, will be needed big one vigilance on behalf of the French armies. It is necessary to think thus already to protect in the best conditions the citizens,it can impact on the athletes on present in the JO because equip him with champions of the army (Florent MANADOU, Renelle LAMOTTE) cannot maybe participate in the events because they will have to assure the surveillance of the country. This will be interesting to watch.

Benjamin Nicolas.

I am going to talk about the olympic games of Rio. Because I find them very interesting for many reasons. Firstly its one of the first emerging countries to have the olympic games. Secondly Brasil but more precisely Rio de Janeiro had a really hight economic growth in the last few years. But there was a big difference between the levels of society. A lot of favelas were destroyed for the construction of the olympic games of Rio and that created a lot of violent manifestations. The olympic games of Rio finally cost more than 50 billion dollars placing them at the top of the learderboard in terms of costs.

The Ancient Olympics were held in Greece between 776av J-C and 394av J-C, as a tribute to the Greek Gods who lived on Mount Olympus. These games were very different to the ones we see today - for starters, the atheletes competed naked!
Today the Olympic Games much evolved, the tests have changed, the ability of the athletes also. The next Olympics games are organized by Russia in 2020 and by Paris in 2024.

The Olympic Games for Disabled

They are organized by the International Paralympic Committee and are following the Olympic Games. People with mental disabilities could participate in the Special Olympics until they were reinstated in 2012. Sir Ludwig Guttmann, a neurologist had the idea of organizing the first World Games of Wheelchairs and amputees. Later as the "Stoke Mandeville Games," they were meant to rehabilitate by physically practicing paraplegic victims and veterans of the Second World War. The 9th Stoke-Mandeville Games were held in Rome in 1960 one week after the 1960 Summer Olympics, and are considered the first Paralympic games. The first Paralympic Winter Games were held in Örnsköldsvik in Sweden in 1976.The Paralympic Games is for disabled athletes from all countries for handicap competitions. Participants include physically or visually impaired athletes (amputees, blind, motor, brain or wheelchair disabled, or any other physical disability) as well as athletes with intellectual disabilities.
