This is the story of a young girl named Katie Price who has a condition called xeroderma pigmentosum (XP). This infirmity obliges her to remain shut up at her place during the day because the sun is harmful to her; she is therefore only allowed to go out at night. Her childhood friend, Morgan, visits her every night to spend time with her. Since she was a child, she has been in love with her neighbor Charlie, whom she sees every day from her bedroom, as he walks past her house while going to school or at the pool. One night, Katie decides to write a letter for Charlie in case his illness eventually wins.
