6th subject - RAP Empty Re: 6th subject - RAP

Post by Clément Blanchet Mon Oct 19, 2020 10:40 am

Whether John prefers poetry over rap, there are real similarities between both art forms whereas the most obvious difference is the rhythm: rap is words put to music. Even if both use rhymes, rap works in step with the beat of the music while there is pentameter in poetry.

Nonetheless, both art forms aim at the same goal, which is developing a committed message that will create an emotional response over a view of the world or society. Rappers and poet bring to light their point of view of the world and society. Indeed the poem Liberté (Paul Eluard) and the song Lady Liberty needs glasses works in synergy. Are there limits to the capacity of transmitting messages? What about ads using rap or poetry (Did somebody say just eat ? Snoop dog)

Finally, in rap, the importance of the beats can sometimes overshadow the importance of lyrics. Rappers often are concerned with whether or not people can dance to the song (Poet are even worse), that’s why we should all prefer disco, commitment isn’t something important in the best society possible in which we live.

6th subject - RAP Empty RAP/POETRY

Post by lguilb04 Mon Oct 19, 2020 7:26 pm

I don’t really have a preference between rap and poetry. They’re both language arts. There are authors that I like more than others but these two styles interest me. However, I rather want to talk about slam, which is a poetry based on a freely chanted narration, in a rhythmic way.
An author like Grand Corps malade has written texts that have been the subject of a number of tributes, parodies, and more or less direct references. I really like this singer who embodies many values. I studied some of these slams in French and I also communicated with him. Afterwards, I wrote a slam based on one of his titles called "MIDI 20" telling his life from birth to accident. In fact, he became a paraplegic by jumping into a shallow pool, hence his stage name "Grand Corps Malade".

The theme of the week is whether we prefer rap or disco.
For my part, I prefer rap and I listen to it every day in the car, playing sports, doing my homework ...
I listen to all rap styles, be it American or French, or soft rap or a bit more violent rap. I've already met different rappers in concert, but my favorite rapper and whom I would like to see in real life is Ninho. I was supposed to go see him at Francofolies de la Rochelle this summer, but because of COVID 19 the event was canceled and therefore postponed to 2021 with the same artists if possible.

I listen rap since a few months but only sometimes. It is rare, and it is generally not from myself. I like some authors who writes texts that make sense.
There is people who are able to send a strong message threw their songs.

Rap is like other music styles : it is about creation, some will say this is art and maybe they are right even if sometimes, we disagree about the fact that is music.

You wonder if we prefer rap or disco ?
I definitely prefer rap than disco. I'm not a huge fan of it, and it's pretty uncommon for me to listen to rap musical alone. Except if the chorus is cool. When I'm with my friend we enjoy to listen to "JUL" or some rap like that (it's crap but the rhythm is great). Rap is like poetry because the text of some rap singers is like a poetry (with rhymes and stylistic devices).

Rap is a cultural and musical movement with its roots in hip-hop, having emerged in the early 1970s in the ghettos of the United States.
Personally I love French rap and I like to listen to this style of music before a match because it motivates me. After the rap that I prefer is still American rap with the music of Jay-Z, Snoop Dog, eminem and many others.
Rap nowadays is listened to by everyone regardless of age.

First of all, rap is a style of music listened to by many people more precisely by young people.
This musical movement is inspired by poetry because rap is characterized by its rhyming diction and by
a succession of choruses.

Personnaly, I enjoy rap and I listen to rap every day. I find that in rap there are strong lyrics that express feelings and we can find ourselves in these lyrics.
Moreover, my favorite singer is a rapper of course and it's PLK, a rapper who comes from Paris and I think this singer is among the best rappers of 2020.

Finally, I can understand that some people do not like rap because everyone does not recognize themselves in this music but by listening to the words of some singers it is appreciable.

I don’t consider myself as a big rap fan. Indeed, I think that "real" rap fans like when the speech rate is high or when the lyrics are "violent", "angry", follow each other well while I listen to some rap songs for their melody, its soundtrack. That’s why I don’t mind listening to rap us (even if I don’t understand anything) if the rhythm is lively.

I would like to talk about Rap because I have more knowledges in this theme and I am going to talk about of a famous figure of new rap US that I love much : XXXTentacion. He was specialising in a recent kind of rap : the soundcloud rap. The real name of XXXTentacion was Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, he was born in 1998 in Plantation (Florida) and he died in 2018. He grew up with his mother Cleopatra Bernard, his mother give birth to XXXTentacion at 17years old only and she brought up her child alone. When XXXTentacion had 6 years old, he stabbed a man who mugged his mother. After that, because of the financial situation of his mother, he go living at home of his grandmother : Colette Jones. Despite it all he sayed that he loved her mom and he always support her because he understood the difficult situation of his mom (his first tattoo is the name of his mom). During his teenage years he go in teenagers detention center on account of his violent behavior. In this center he meet the rapper Ski Mask The Slump God and he become friend with him and later he work with him. He develop a passion for music at 13 years old when he participate at chorale of his school. His most famous hits are Jocelyn Flores, SAD!, Changes, Moonlight...(unfortunately his real success and glory will come after his death). In 2016 he was incarcerated for violence and armed robbery, there is also accusated to agression of his girlfriend but in his song "carry on" he say that he was wrongly accuse about it. We don't know exactly the causes of his murder, we think that it's just a theft but it's not sure. After his death his girlfriend give birth to his child : Gekyume (Gekyume was a word create by XXXTentacion to design an other universe of thoughts). Like his father this child will not know his father... Sad
Now, I would like to give my personnal opinion about the personnality of XXXTentacion and on his rumours. I think this guy have lot of maturity for person who have our age, in this vlogs when he talk about of his feels in relation to the events of his life we can realise that it's a person with an important life background it was a very superstitious man like all his lot of tattos proves it because they are all a spiritual inspiration. I find XXXTentacion was not a bad person but it's a person whose bad things arrived at him and these things can impact choices in his life, destroy him, can create a monster. Sometimes bad experiences can change people, but I think all people can make mistakes and it's never too late to make up for it. Deep down, I think XXXTentacion is remaining very human and sensitive, he tryed to redeem himself despite his many bad actions. Anyway, we can say that XXXTentacion was an intricate figure and some people qualified him like criminal while other part of people qualified him like a person who trying to repent and become better person, example for younger. These different opinions come from the different interpretations that each people do of actions of someone and the different notions of good/bad which depend on lot of things like education background and behavior of each people, the medias have too a little part of responsabilties because they can influence people. Sleep Hey ,
So I'm going to talk about rap. I don't know many things on it.
I know rap is a cultural and musical movement rooted in hip-hop, having emerged in the early 1970s in ghettos in the United States.
Rap mean : rhythm and poetry. At first glance rap seems to have roots in African culture.
I don’t really like rap, because you don’t understand what they’re saying. They’re either talking too fast or it doesn’t make any sense.
I don’t want to copy and paste wikipedia and let you read something boring I just continue my monologue to finish the number of words required. Very Happy

first of all Rapping is a musical form of vocal delivery that incorporates "rhyme, rhythmic speech, and street vernacular", which is chanted in a variety of ways, usually over a backing beat or musical accompaniment. i listen music and i prefer rap style with a moral
Rap as a genre began in New York City in the early 1970s, when DJs began isolating the percussion breaks of funk, soul, and disco songs and extending them

The rap is very different like the disco. Because the rap is a music with a hammered rhythm, based on chanted lyrics in contrary of disco is a dance music inspired by jazz and rock.
Me, I like listen the two types of style of music. I don’t listen disco only but I listen this music with my friends in the party like different rap I listen this only. In the rap, I like the lyrics of the music because represented the real life, in love, in friendship…. The lyrics of the disco is for to dance in the dancefloor.

Rap is my favorite style of music.
At least, it is the musical style of my favorite artist. Because if you take all the rap creations, I think it's the musical style where you can find as much big shit as pure wonder.
To come back to my favorite artist, it's Nekfeu. This feeling when I discover a new Nekfeu's sound is incomparable. He is truly a genius of rap and music in general. And we can say that nekfeu is a poet seen his texts. He seeks his inspiration in literature, in US rap, in jazz, in French variety ... He defends noble causes, he is against all injustices. He is just perfect.

Personally, I like all musical styles, as rap, disco as R'nB. I listen kind of musical style according to my mood.
Currently, it's true that rap as an important place in teenagers and young adults' life. Indeed, it's surprising to bump into young adults that don't know ninho, damso or PLK for exemple.
Despite everything, as for clothes or whatever, old thing come back into fashion. Therefore, this fact is why disco music is always on the radio and new musics are currently created whith disco vibes.
Finally, isn't true that disco music is the best musical style for parties athmosphere ?

I'm someone who doesn't listen to a lot of rap music because because of my handicap I'm not going to hear the lyrics well and therefore understand them. However, I know some famous artists because rap is a fashion phenomenon among teenagers in particular. Rap often talks about the same subjects, such as violence, drugs, wealth, poverty, women, etc. I've heard a lot of rap music in the past. Rap was born in the American ghettos in the 70s and then appeared in France in the 80s.

Rap is one of the styles of music. It is characterized by a rapid diction of words including rhymes. This cultural movement began in the 1970s in ghettos in the USA. Today, rap is the most listened to in the world. Disco is also a cultural movement that appeared in the 70s, 80s. It is characterized by faceted balls, sequins and afro cuts. For me, these two moves are essential. The dsico allows you to dance and rap to express yourself.

Rap is I think one of my favorite music kind. But I like rap I can understand ( so majority of french rap ), and above all rap with good lyrics, with hidden message. Not crazy sh** like those who cannot say " 3 words without an insults, or again when you have 7 differents words in the entire sound.

Rap is a cultural and musical movement rooted in hip-hop, having emerged in the early 1970s in ghettos in the United States. Rap is characterized by its very rhythmic and rhyming diction, usually a succession of verses separated by choruses. Influenced by other musical genres (reggae, blues, and jazz, rock), rap became increasingly popular in the 1980s.
This style of music is today the most listened to type of music in the world. For my part I am a very big fan of music and especially rap even if I can listen to any type of different styles. Today, rap has made it possible to discover other styles of music such as: trap, afrotrap, drill, ...

If I have to choose between all styles of music, I will choose rap for the rest of my life. I listen rap everyday, french or american. My girlfriend don't like rap so sometimes, I let her put her music and I change when she don't see.
About american rap, I listen it randomly I don't have favorite music or artist. About french rap, I have some preferences, and I like to listen the new album when they are recently released. Some exemples with QALF from Damso, ENNA from PLK or Lefa or Ninho.

Rap is a musical style coming mainly from hip-hop and which was created around the 1970s. Basically, rap is a variation of what is called "spoken-word". Today, Rap is one of the most popular styles in the world and especially among young people. Rappers like Eminem or Drake are known worldwide and break many listening records. Personally, I like Rap a lot and I've been listening to it since I was about 11-12 years old thanks to the "Sexion d'Assault", a rap group very well known in France in the 2010s. Now, I listen to a wide variety of rappers but i especially listen to LEFA.
