Where did you grow up?
Hello everybody and welcome here!
We thought we'd launched the forum with this question: Where did you grow up?
This way we will learn more about everybody, especially the new students, and they will get to know us (the so old ones) !

Love and butterflies?
I love it when a student starts a topic. Thanks Eloise.
You know where I grew up but I'm sure I'll reply again after a few people get the ball rolling.

Well everyone knows where I come from (the proud Lebanese). it's a beautiful country with lots of parties, alcohol and beautiful women. There are as well gorgeous landscapes and amazing monuments. Lebanese Food is a killer as well. So that's basically it.

Well i will probably kill the enthousiasm... I grew up at Melle (you-hou!!) it's a VERY small city, 1h from Angoulême, in Deux Sèvres. The only cool thing about this place is the number of different kind of goat cheese... But well it was quite nice to grow up on the countryside :-)

Re: Where did you grow up?
Don't worry Aurélie, I grew up in the countryside too, in Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne ! But I lived in Seine-et-Marne before moving to Corrèze (what a change !). I prefer living in cities but when I go back to my parents I get to see sheep, chickens, a poney... and the neighbor's cows of course, which is always nice !

Re: Where did you grow up?
Well i'm one of those who grow up in Angoulême, i just know this city since almost 22 years now! I was actually born in L'isle d'Espagnac, at 15 minutes of the center. After i lived in Angoulême until my 7 years old and then i moved with my parents to Puymoyen which is at 5 minutes of the center.
I'm conscious that i regularly start conversations almost transformed into battles to tell how it's becoming more and more an empty city but i also stay attached to it 'cause of the nostalgic effect on me. I mean this is my city, where i grow up and where i did my studies until high school and then here at the cepe for two more years. A lot of memories are here and i'll always be proud of being an "angoumoisine" (don't tell it too loud

Re: Where did you grow up?
Hi everyone ! Well I was born in Saint-Malo (in Brittany), I grew up there until my 10 years old. It's a very beautiful city next to the sea and there are alot of tourists there. It's known for its buckwheat pancake, cider, mussels and other sea food and obviously for its Brittany's costs. I have memories about wonderful landscapes and this city is visited also for the corsair's story, you know Surcouf ?? He was one of them. Then, I moved to La Rochelle where my parents live today. It's also a touristic city next to the sea famous for its 2 towers and some events in the year (Redbull competition, Francofolies and so one) !

Re: Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Leicester a big multi-cultural industrial city.
It was a great melting pot with a lot of Indians/Pakistanis, Jamaicans/Antiguans, Poles/Yugoslavians especially. Most of the people were working class or lower middle class with a few higher. Food and music were very varied but the city was a little "gloomy". My schools were big; 1500 children in the secondary school for example which had both positives and negatives attached.

Ok ok, It's my turn...I think everybody know a little of bit about my city but ok. I'm going to repeat.
I'm from Colombia, north of South America! I was born in the capital, Bogotá. Actually i have always lived there. Bogotá is a very big city, bigger than Paris. About 8 million people and 2,640 meters above sea level...yes it's cold!!
I really love the climate. The average temperature is 14.5 °C and it varies from 4 to 24 °C. Throughout the year we have a BIIIIIGGG and bright sun...
Lucky one!!

And we actually love you like this! Little miss sunshine! I wish i could more often have the same climate in Angoulême. We actually know the 4 seasons here. Sometimes 39°C then 10°C then snow and here we are 21°C! We unfortunately have to buy a lot of cloths to face all this changements. Too bad... :pCamilaCristanchoDuque wrote:No!! Re: Where did you grow up?
I've just got back from a walk along the beach into Soulac where I had coconut ice cream milk shake.
It was really hot on the way out but more bearable on the return as the sky is more cloudy. 24° on the way back.

When I return from Poitiers each Wednesday evening I see the sign to Melle - now I will always think of you, Aurelie, when I do.

8 million!
Perhaps that's fun when you are young but I prefer a smaller community with a large city within driving distance. something like Melle perhaps.
