Discussion subject 2
Hi all I create this new topic to relaunch a new topic, I do not know if some of you have about topic ideas. But what we can do is that every week someone from the class create a new topic with a specific subject to be treated. I know if you agree, but if you are let me know so I can launch the first issue because I have one and it is a subject that everyone can talk easily.

Re: Discussion subject 2
Sorry to answer only now ... So I wanted this week to talk about the dominance of television sports like football, basketball, and tennis. Personally, I think they are much too put forward (unfortunately these are the sports that bring in the most money in terms of TV rights). I do not know regarding you see you enjoy other sports on TV? I think for example the Olympic Games provide a very great diversity in sports that are offered, which makes it impossible to please everyone. Personally, I'm a fan of all that is motor racing as the moto gp, Formula 1 and Formula E, or snowboarding are sports that may not be put forward, apart on Eurosport or Canal +, but you must pay to have access to these services. So the question is, are you currently tired of sports offered on television? Why? And what sports you would like to see instead?

Re: Discussion subject 2
Your subject idea is great Maxime ! I agree with you on the fact the French TV is focusing too much on football but also cycling! I don't have the feeling tennis and basketball are also much more broadcasted than other sports but if you say so ! (maybe it's because I love these both sports! ) I also notice that French TV is highlighting rugby. Indeed there's rugby game almost each week ! However this is understandable because these sports are popular sports! It's the same case in Great Britain in which football and rugby are the main sports. Then, if the French TV is putting that much money into these sports is because they are the most loved and are part of our country's culture. For example, every time I go to my grandparents in Toulouse, i just can't escape from the lovely rugby afternoon ... and the yells aha.
Moreover, I also agree with you when you say the Olympic Games provides a wide range of choices! Indeed, thanks to this famous event i was met to discovered new sports but the Olympic games also was able to let news sportscompete which is a great idea to make them more known!
Futhermore i can't say i'm tired of the sports the French TV broadcasts because I don't really watch sports in the TV except when there's a big event such as the Olympic games, Rolland Garros... However i agree with you the French public TV should broadcast other sports we can see in private channels. Personnaly, i'd love have more natation and shooting tournaments broadcasted!

I agree with both of you but all chanels are like companies, they must to do profit so they must to propose programs witch are most seen with most likely sports like football, basketball or big events...
I hope just that one day that chanels will be free but I think that day will never come...

Very good choice of subject Maxime !
I agree with you of all what you say with sports on TV. There are mostly football, which is all the year, and tennis and cycling but only when there are events. But not enough sports are interested to show it on TV I think. Would you enjoy seeing golf, curling or cricket ? Honestly, I wouldn’t.
The other problem with sport that I note is that there are too much men sports and not enough women sports. Unfortunately, women football came a little bit on TV but that all (instead in Olympic games). I found this very pity.

I completely agree with all of you! There are too many sports programmes on French TV showing football players. However i personally think that there is a good reason behind this. Football has always been the most popular sport in France. There is even a "commercial business" behind it. For instance, trading cards and stickers showing football players can be collected by children. Children won't collect stickers and album about figure skating or human swimming. Lots of people enjoy watching a football game. By targetting every french inhabitant, "free" Tv channels hope to gain money thanks to a bigger audience. However, paid channels are here to broadcast all types of sports.

This is an interesting subject Maxime.
With the Euro's competition and the Olympic games, I've never seen so much sport on TV this year.
I think that many sports competitions have to be broadcasted freely. Indeed, I don't understand the fact that we have to pay for watching a sport. Maybe would it be possible to create a free tv sport channel ? I mean with many different sports competitions during the day. It will target every fans in many disciplines.
I would like to see more dance or badminton competitions for example. These sports are rarely broadcasted on TV.

This is a very interesting subject!
Last year, when I wanted to watch a match of Curry, a basketball player in NBA. I was surprised that I couldn't find any live telecast in Internet. Until then, I realized that we must pay for the programs sports in France. But in China, not only we can watch live telecast of sports in TV for free, but also in Internet.
Well, retune to the theme. In fact, I'm a fan of basketball. So I'm glad to see that the TV is focusing much on basketball. I can understand your feelings, but for the TV programs, they need the audience rating for profiting, which means they need to choose the most popular sport for the most people. Besides, I think that we need more ways to watch matches for the people who like the sports unusual, Internet for example.

Re: Discussion subject 2
With a great variety of sports, the television broadcaster don't know how to cater to tastes of all audiences. But it is certain that, the main purpose of the television broadcaster is to make a profit, to attract a large number of advertisers and to raise ad's price, with a high audience rating. From the marketing perspective, those sports which are not very popular like horse racing or archery are products that should be produced in small quantities or not. But we can also see this sports in private channels although we should pay for it...

Unlike all of you, I'm not agree with you. If we wanted to have access to all sports, there would be no place for other programs. There are so many sports and different tastes that it can be difficult to provide access
and that is why there are special sports channels, it’s not expensive to subscribe (2 euros per channel). While they are paid but have the advantage of specialized: extreme sports, competitions ex ...
Than you can always find favor with current channels already some sports in second part of the night (17 offers extreme sports and the 23 boxing) or on chains less viewed, for example, on 21 we can found daily bowls...

Re: Discussion subject 2
This topic makes me laugh because I know many of my friends who don't accept watching football or rugby on TV. But unfortunately for them the French television broadcasts enormously match.
Personally I like football. And I loooooove to watch my favorite team play. So it doesn't bother me.
However I would like to look something like sports because I love it. But the moment I'm just that, because sports channels are pay, and I'm poor student
haha

Re: Discussion subject 2
This subject is very interesting. I agree with all of you. I practice a lot of sport like bike, run and crossfit. There are many different sports but we can watch only the same team sports on the TV. I think, it's too bad. We do not exploit the wealth of France and in the others countries. Sport can be exchange, share, ... It's the way to share of the others. However, during the World Cups, it brings a lot of people... But people are often agressive. This will create conflicts / tensions / pressure between countries. In addition, new sports have emerged such as video games, but this sport isn't broadcast on the TV.

Re: Discussion subject 2
I'm not original but this is an very interesting topic!!
I think that some sports are more commercial than others (football or rudby for example) because each sport don't have the same audience. Televisions broadcasters adapt to the audience. Do not forget that they have to make profit.
Big events are always on TV (World Cup, Tour de France...). Televisions broadcasters can purpose also others events unfamiliar. Today, we can see a lot of programs on TV. It's an opportunity to discover new programs. Don't forget that our parents didn't have the same choice when they were children!!!
To my mind, I love to watch sports, especially tennis and swimming. I also like to see Olympic games because it's an opportunity to discover news sports. This summer, I discovered trampoline and it's was amazing. It was very beautiful to see... On the contrary, I hate watch football because I don't like the mentality of the players. They are more sexists and I don't accept that they can earn millions with their foots.

There are so many channels with so much time to fill these days. L'equipe even have petanque on.
Re: Discussion subject 2
I do sport and i like watching sport on tv. But i don't like watching football. Too much simulation and polemic. Today the football turn around the money. And to my great despair, there is too much football on TV. Fortunately there is rugby !!
I would like to watch other sport like basketball, tennis, etc ... But we need to pay a subscription.
