Discussion Subject 3
Good evening everybody !
As Maxime said one week ago, it will be interested to speak about a new subject every week. I did not answer to the subject of Maxime because I thought the same thing as all of you.
So, to be in relation to our homework for the next class, I propose to talk about the addiction of new technologies : phone, computer, social media... To my mind, it is an important subject because we are in this generation which use continuously this mode of communication. Why are we addicted ? Could we live without this ? I don't think so because it is settled in our way of life. I would like to know what is your opinion about that

Hi Charlotte !
Your topic is very interesting !
As you said it, we are a generation or I do not think that we could not live without.
Like it or not.
I do not know you but my first reflex the morning when I wake up is to look my telephone.
Where when I go back home it is to switch on my computer.
But I try not to get used to taking out my phone as soon as I am alone or as soon as I have to wait.
And so, take advantage of it to speak to the people around me, read a book or simply take advantage of a break to make nothing !
The thing which I don't understand it is when you go to a concert and when people prefers to film the concert with their phone instead of living it !!!

I think our generation can't live without her phone or her computer because we have always live with, we are bored when we haven't got it and we think to our phone when we can as Yvanilde said. Moreover, we can do everything with our phone, like awakening, the gps...
Future generations get acquainted with the technologie earlier and earlier. For exemple, my nephews (two and four years old) know how to use a phone or some children have a phone ( even the last Iphone) at 10 years old.
We didn't know to enjoy without technologie.

I feel the same as Ekrem, we were born into this, into a world of new technologies and our generation cannot live without phones, social networks... We express ouselves on Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram... and for us it's just usual, it's like watching TV or eating. We need to know what our best friends lives look like and keep in touch with the world... well the virtual world. Personnaly, I don't think it's a bad thing, it's just the evolution of the habits, I don't feel like unsociable or withdrawn when I'm with people.

Re: Discussion Subject 3
It is even though crazy because sometimes when we are on Facebook for example, it is just to take time but we don't make attention to what we watch. So when we don't have the access of the wifi, we fell like lost !! But i don't know for you but I think sometimes it is relaxing to don't use our phone during like few days !

Re: Discussion Subject 3
I think it's very difficult to live without news technologies! For example, I need my phone all day : when I wake up, when I want to use my car for GPS device, to consult my time schedule, to read my emails... We can make a lot of things with a phone (not only phone or sent a message). In a few months, we can also pay at the supermarket. It's crazy... I agree with Maxime, it's the evolution of the habits, we live in a connected world but I also agree with Ekrem when he tell us that children get acquainted with technoligies earlier and earlier. It's a little sad to see them with a phone. I had a phone at only 15 years old because I was at school in a big city and it reassured my parents. I'm not sure it's always necessary to have a phone at 10 years old.

Re: Discussion Subject 3
Good morning everybody !
I think that's a very interessant subject Charlotte ! I have lots of things to say about this subject ! In fact, as you all said it, news technologies are everywhere. In my view, we are totally adict to them. But, I find that's totally crazy to see a child aged ten years with an iphone or latest fashionable phone ! Young children don't know how to play with real toys, they play trough something (shelf, computer, phone). It is not like that that I see the socialization. It's not on a tablet that you learn to play with the others, which you learn to share your toys ect ...
For example, in my family, all my little cousins have a tablet or a DS. During family meals, they are each on their tools. They are totally on another planet.
I think that the meals are places of reunions and sharing, and that's important not to have the telephone at table. It is my point of view. But when we want to be with those who are far, we don't take advantage of those who are by the side of you.
Regarding to have a phone when we are young, a reason could be taken into account: the insecurity in which we live. It seems important to know where are our children; our friends, our family. The telephone appears as something reassuring. We want a text message when a person arrived to such a place.

Re: Discussion Subject 3
This is a very good choice of topic Charlotte.
I think we live in a society in which the phones, connected devices are omnipresent. it's part of our life now. We're in a technology dependency system. What saddens me most to me are not adults who themselves are aware of their dependence on technology more or less for professional reasons or whatever ... it's more that children suffer the adverse effect the phone. In the streets we see more and more children of 10 years with a phone in hand. When I was 10 for my part, I had no phone, and I spent most of my time outside spirit to play for a club rugby or football. I find it unfortunate for them, they do not take advantage as we were able to enjoy our childhood.
After regarding me yes I'm a little addicted to my phone, but I try to minimize the number of times I use it, because after a while I quickly go around. In the end I used me for its main uses, ie call and send messages.

Re: Discussion Subject 3
I find it far worse to see mothers sitting on their phones whilst babies and young children are in their push chairs being ignored.
Re: Discussion Subject 3
As a person who is addicted to phone, I have to say it's very very very hard for me to live one day without phone, or without Internet. If I receive a message, I have to view it immediately. I can't stand there is a small red point. I have to be sure that I stay always in touch with my friends. In other words, it gives me security.
It's a common habit for everybody but not good. Imagine that we are eating together, however, everyone look at their phone, view Facebook and give a "I LIKE" to others. why don't we talk face to face? New technologies give us much inconvenience, but also make us ignore our friends, our family.

I really like your topic Charlotte ! Like all of you i truly think that our generation has become addicted to technology and that this tech adiction is getting worse with new generations. For instance today's children are asking their parents for a mobile phone or even a tablet computer in primary school. This is insane!

As my friends and I are addicted to new technologies, especially mobile phone, we have experienced many embarrassing or funny things. In the university, at night in the dormitory, after the light out, we all lie in bed, six light sources in the dark. After 12 o'clock, the sound that phone hit the face and the yell of pain sounded one after another...Every night, we swear to our roommates: Tonight I must sleep at 11 o'clock! At 11:05, she said: In order to hypnotize myself, I would browse the microblogging for a little while. At 1 o'clock, her phone still lit...I know that because I was doing the same thing as her...

Good topic Charlotte !!!! Without my phone I'm lost. When I wake up I take my phone and check my Facebook or other social network. I'm so addict. For example when I have broken my Iphone it was the worst day of my life because after I had a phone without internet, without game, without, camera, without NOTHING and it was horrible. After I thing that I can live without technology like laptop because in smartphone we have all but not without phone. I thing today it's impossible to live without technologies because we live in a connected world.

Re: Discussion Subject 3
In view of the time spent on phones, tablets and computers I think that lot of people became addicted especially since the birth of social networks. For me it is impossible to spend a day without being connected. And even if you want to try “a weaning” it is very complicated because it still needs to do various searches personal or for studies. For example in the CEPE we have to connect to practice sports, look at the schedule in advance or participating in this forum. It is also the siciety that drives us to become dependent and we can even say that it is entered in the customs.

Re: Discussion Subject 3
Hey
Personally, I can't live without my mobile phone. However, the computer is less important to me because the use of my mobile phone more frequently.
However, I like to spend the weekend without my mobile phone when I viste a new country or the weeked with friends or family.
I know detach myself from my mobile When necessary.
One thing scares me, It's the generation that we have for the use of new technologies is more and more young. I don't understand why the young child have need of it.

Re: Discussion Subject 3
I find this subject is interesting, because in my opinion it give another question: which responsability have the society of our dependence in new technologies?
I think I can however live without these various tools. I am often with, but when I am with my family, my friends I do not even think of it! I think that the real relations are more important. Nevertheless, every day I connect on the various social networks, and I send many SMS. But during the holiday, I'm shutting down.

In some part of Africa (village) some people have never used new technologies (laptop, cell phone).

I totally agree with you on that point Cécilia ! To my mind, we can't live without technoloy nowadays, even if we want to or at least using very little like our phone and laptop. I'm not addictive to my phone or even my laptop ( not kidding lol such a dinosaur i am). However i'm still using them every day because as the others said we're living in a connected world and our societey itself our urging us to use these technologies. Even school as you explained is educated students to these technologies. Personally, I had my laptop at the secondary school because i had no choice. Each week i had online homeworks, had oral exercices (so obvious doing oral exercices online, very convenient!) for my English classes... Moreover even some of our teachers are putting lessons or articles to read on the university website. Thus, nowadays we can't avoid technologies, we can use less though but can't live without them because our society has conditioned us to use them.

Personally, I couldn't live without technology. I'm always connected with my phone and my laptop in order to work, to interact with friends, to search information online... Our generation called generation Y has grown with videogames and internet. It is like a way of life. It is in our habits and I don't think we can change it. Moreover, the society is more and more connected... !

I agree with you Maxime and with everyone, but I can add, I think our generation was lucky to grow up without these new technologies, they appeared when we grew up. We have known 2 worlds.. with and without new technologies.
