They have one of these in the ESPE snacks area near my office at the MdL. Certainly makes some people take their cups back. Personally think using your own cup/mug is better though.
Yes, but for the moment the students haven't a coffee maker like in the teachers' room... so they are obliged to use the coffee machine with the plastic cups and then it works for the cans too so there is necessarily a container of which we must get rid! But the limit of this machine it's that students put everything and anything in it to try to win because the sensor detects everything! So the recycling is falsed!

Hi people,
I agreed with you Eunhae for me you don't need to use packaging. Green packaging has a low impact on the environment and energy consumption what is really important. Because traditional packaging uses plactics, corrugated boxes, and many others, green packaging allows to recycle and to create biodegradable goods. I think people has to change their mind to be able to preserve th environment. I found some exemples to show you how it's possible to change our ways of consumption:
Those products are made with reclycled material. Ecological packaging allows minimizing weight, energy input, and maximizing ease of recyclability.

Hello everyone, I found your examples on the green packaging interesting. We aren't paying enough attention to the impact of our way of life on the environment. That's why doing things like for example: using the same bag when you go shopping, sorting your garbage and drinking tap water rather than bottled water are nowadays essential.
I am going to speak to you today about the brand "St Michel" which we enjoy with sweets for more than a century! Indeed, this French company very present in the field of innovation has always had the goal of being a forerunner in terms of commitment to consumers. It offers cakes packaged in an increasingly ecological packaging:
The kraft paper inside the packages or wrapping the cakes is made of natural cardboard from sustainably managed forests. This paper is not bleached to limit chemical treatments hence its brown color. But the plastic trays are still intended for the trash of household waste, the company in partnership with TerraCycle offers to recycle and then donate to associations. This example shows the commitment of some companies to green packaging for a greener world.

Hi everybody! What an interesting topic !
It is an important topic that all the companies need to consider when they create a product which requires packaging. Nowadays, companies can't have an approach of creation ignoring sustainable development.
I saw all the examples and pictures you gave about enable packaging and it is interesting because it's a new way to consume a product. I really liked the example about the water in bubble or the pizza box.
I found another example of enable packaging. It is a glass or cup and it is called "Loliware". These cups are made from seaweed, organic sweeteners and each one have a different flavor. Inside Loliware you can put drinks or dessert as ice cream and it can be filled many time throughout an event.
I love the idea of consuming inside an organic class. However, all the examples about enable packaging raise a question about hygiene. If you are supposed to eat the glass, the box where the food or the drink were it is not really tidy. So all the ideas are innovative but I think it is difficult to make people changing their mind and habits. It takes a long time, that's why companies need to strat thinking about new processes and products.

Hello, Today, all brands are affected by recycling as it becomes a major issue.
I will take the example of L'Oreal, the brand of well-known beauty products
All along the production chain, the group involves its suppliers in its policy of environmental conservation and the protection of natural resources and biodiversity. It also favors local suppliers, using a single production company in each geographical region. In this way L'Oréal promotes the economic development of the regions in which it produces, limits the impact of raw materials and goods transport and favors cooperation with its suppliers. For several years, the group has been training its Packaging and Development, Marketing and Purchasing teams in the principles of eco-design. This approach is aimed at reducing the weight and volume of packaging and improving the environmental impact. For example, L'Oréal has followed a strict policy of forest certification of its packaging, which allows it to certify 99.8% of cardboard used for product boxes is certified. Over 80% of its purchases associated with production (packaging, raw materials, subcontracts) are made from local suppliers located in the geographical region of production to develop local countries.
I think it's good that a brand like the oreal known internationally should be an example to follow for recycling.
All this is illustrated in the following video

Marion Le Moullec wrote:Hi,
I agree with all you said, using too much packages or create too much waste has a great impact on the planet.
But, some people try to create new product or new way of proceeding.
Today, I would like to talk you about the Renu Herbs ecological project. I will start with some general informations : Renu Herbs was funded by an american woman Robin Anthony. According to Robin Anthony the toxins are everywere, in the food we eat, the clothes we wear, and the air we breathe. Toxins are responsible for the tiredness and discontent.
To repair the damage, Robin creates Renu Herbs Brand, a Detox Tea to help eliminate toxins in the system and clean blood in the body. Her detox tea contains seven medicinal herbs that identify the toxins and eliminate them.
Robin needs a label design for her new product that she launched : she wants create a packaging in agreement with her lifestyle, her detox program and her stategic position. She hopes an ecological packaging.
Her packaging presents green and brown colour like the nature. She has a suggestion for an eco-friendly concept and respect for the environment : she incorporates seeds ready to be germinate insite the tea bag. The tea boiling water activate the germination. You have just to plant the tea bag and you get the same medicinal herb in your garden.
It's a beautiful project because you give back to the nature what the nature makes a gift to you, like a kind of acknowledgement of its generosity.
Hello everyone,
Of course today we have too much waste, but I not agree that packaging is a bad thing, I mean that the problem is more overpack. Cause Packaging is not only source of waste, it's useful first. We can't remove all pack because we can't buy only bulks product. Some packs are here to protect the product against the light for exemple. But overpack is a big problem, most of the time we don't need a lot of plastic or paper to pack our product, and it exists possibilities to use less or better materials, or to find ways to re-use packs.
Marion I heard about this kinf of project but that was student who inveted this concept for a bottle of wine for a school contest. I don't remember the name, but it was a bottle made of poppy seeds. Inside there was a pouch in biodegradable plastic containing the wine. When it's finished, you cant cut the bottle in half and bury it into the ground. It is such a great concept and it could be used for a lot of product I think !

Re: Week 4 discussion both groups and Change of Homework for 23/10/17
I won't be very original with my comment.
Yes, we waste too much ressources in useless packaging. Why are we still using plastic when it's way more profitable for everyone to use carton? Why do we have to put little packs in a big pack? What's the point of playing russian dolls with packaging?
We waste an incredible amount of ressources, and we must find a way to do better, with recyclable and reusable packaging for everything.
I have something more to say about indestructible packaging: when it's lost in seas and oceans, it can kill fishes, dolphin, turtles, etc.
We have to work on packaging to be better for our planet, we only have one. Recyclable, biodegradable, reusable and to stop doing russian dolls packs (especially for biscuits).
Good night (no I was not angry when I wrote this )

Re: Week 4 discussion both groups and Change of Homework for 23/10/17
Today, it’s very important, even essential to think to the environment when we realize packaging’s strategy. Indeed, for us and already for the future generations it’s our missions to care about the environment, to care about our planet.
Today, it became a priority because the countdown has started. In fact, we consume more energy than the planet has… We have to act before it was too late… That’s why, we should to bring the companies to establish new strategies which respects the environment and the first step is to set up a green packaging. Because the cardboard, the plastic and the ink of the packaging impoverished the planet’s resources. So, Celine I agree with you, the government has to establish laws for that companies respect the environment.
And I agree with you Marceline, it’s a good idea to reward people when they make good actions.
Another solution: to introduce environment classes in schools, and the children can adopt a responsible behavior.
I should like to show some numbers that make it clear how grave the situation is :

SO WAKE UP !

Hello everyone,
I think it is important to imagine the future of packaging, because of the global warming.
Recycling is necessary and essential, we need to educate people about methods of consumption, from the beginning of school.
States should set reasonable targets before a given date and promote green packaging.

Hi everyone !
I agree that packaging is very important and it needs to be modified to respect environment. I saw the water drop, Mayra talked about it. I thought it was really intelligent but also really it shows that the creators need to think differently. Indeed, this "water drop" was created also to be used in countries where water is difficult to reach.
I do think that creators need also to think the packaging of some products, like water, with a humanitarian purpose.

Hello everyone ! I think we can reduce packaging easily with the new technologies. In fact, the industrials should invest more money in this because it is very important nowadays. We are in a world where they are as many people as trash. We do have to think our packaging in a ecological way to face the increasing of trash. A lot of people do not feel concerned by those things but they need to, because the new generations will pay the price...

According to UPS, main functions of green packaging are:
I. Reduce costs and protect the environment
0- pack with care
1- Size and shape matter
2- Use sustainable packaging & Filler materials
II. Keep a good quality
-Pack and ship guarentee to keep a high quality of service
-Online packaging advisor
for more info, visit ups.com/ecoresponsible
Now let's see how a big brand sees the future of its packaging
Protects the formula, vehiculates brand code (graphic codes) to differentiates between product gamuts
Give information and be transported, help the product stand out on the shelf.
Green Packaging is also
a key issue for stake holders
Its strategy for responsible packaging manufacture is
- to reduce the quantity of material used,
- choose sustainable materials
- use circular ecnonomy principles

For my part, I think that "green" packaging is a good idea, but before that I think that companies must first reduce their packaging and avoid overpackaging. Companies must integrate sustainable development and new environmental issues into their strategy.
I think some companies need to be aware but also take a lead on companies that are doing everything to reduce overpacks like this company that has developed a laser system to identify its fruits and vegetables instead of a sticky label or a paper. The laser does not affect the quality of the product at all.

Re: Week 4 discussion both groups and Change of Homework for 23/10/17
Let me introduce to you that in China, a special way of the candies' packaging. We all know that the milk sugar and the nougat are easy to get melted when the weather turns too hot, in France we put them into a plastic packaging but since the sugar paper is too small so it has caused many problems to the environment because of the optional throwing. In my country, we adopt a different way to the candies' packaging. We use the wafer to the candies like this:
So the wafer are made by the rice and it doesn’t influence the texture of sugar, of course it is eatable and it’s tasteless, just when you put the sugar in your mouth, the wafer will melt immediately. But only the wafer is not adequate, we also use the waxed paper to wrap them up. Here’s an example about the one of the most popular and classical milk candy in China called “Big Rabbit”.
As it has used the biodegradable material to the packaging, especially that the candy paper is too small to be recycled, that has resolved many problems.
For the new packaging trend...I think for me in China, the packaging of the express delivery box is a social problem, for instance, in the past year, there were more than 30 milliard box transported in China and the gummed tape has provoked many worries. It is so difficult to recycle the used tape and the express industry is still expanding. Why we use the plastic tape? The main reason is the low price, and we didn't pay much attention about the pollution caused by the tape because we usually think that the pollution is the heavy industry, the fabrication... If we want to solve the problem, the government should impose more tax for the enterprise who produce the plastic tape and encourage the development of using the biodegradable tape.
