So what about a site recommendation thread - with discussion?

Here's mine : Science Alert

It's a website that brings together all the latest news regarding the different areas in science from technology to health. Lots of short interesting articles.

Saw this sad picture on there today:

Hi,
On "Science Alert", I read an article about the question "Are Cats a Liquid ?"
First, MARC-ANTOINE FARDIN, french author of this article, explain the concept of the Improbable Research. It's an organisation devoted to science and humour. The goal is to make scientific studies about phenomenons that make people laugh at first and then think.

Mister Fardin wanted to illustrate" Liquid cat phenomenon" (I don't know if I am clear !) with rheology (I learned a word, "rhéologie in french). The rheology is the study of the deformations and flows of matter.

At first, Fardin gives us a definition of a "liquid" ; I quote : "At the center of the definition of a liquid is an action: A material must be able to modify its form to fit within a container. The action must also have a characteristic duration".

He takes the example of the cat : "If we take cats as our example, the fact is that they can adapt their shape to their container if we give them enough time..
Fardin highlighted the importance to give time to the cat . The cat has to adapt his body to "become liquid".
And the lenth of the "time adaptation of its body" varied according to the cat its age, stress,...(I am sorry if I am not clear but it's difficult to understand and explain this scientific article !)

According to Fardin, there are two time periods: "the relaxation time and the experimental time, which is the time elapsed since the onset of deformation initiated by the container.

Then, the article become very scientic and stange names... (Deborah Number, Reynolds number, the Weissenberg number...)

But I think that a video is better than my involved and convoluted explanations ! Rolling Eyes

Hello!

If I understood the topic, we have to recommand a site?

So, this is my recommandation : Le Sémioblog (link)

It's the blog of a university teacher I had in Avignon. She's a specialist in social networks, people press, and medias. So that's what the Semioblog is about.

Sometimes, others people are published (like students).

It could be a nice way to stay informed on medias' actualities, with analysis, commentaries...

She also has a YouTube Channel : "Des Médias Presque Parfaits #DMPP" (Youtube #DMPP (link)). It's about medias too : their goal (they are two : Virginie Spies and Guillaume Hidrot) is to develop some thinking on semiology, information & communication, medias history... with as references famous researchers.

Hi, your sites seem to be interesting ; but I don’t know if English sites, I would be able to understand everything.
In French, like Clement's is more accessible for me.

If I had to recommend a site to improve his English with a playful side : https://garfield.com/comic/2017/11/12

We didn't choose a discussion subject! Anglai10

Every day small funny and comic images of everyday life are presented between the different characters of the comic (garfield the cat, his master, the dog, etc.)

I think this site is accessible to all, to understand.
It only takes 1 minute to read, so have fun Very Happy

Clément thanks for the link, it is very interesting!

I want to talk about The onion or if you want the same in french, Le Gorafi (the contrary of Le Figaro). These kind of websites are my favorites ! There are sites of news satire, they comment real or imaginary events in a satirical way, taking again most of the press codes and it is so funny ! With this website we can understand that today many journalists relay misinformation and we have to be careful of that. But also, it amplify the absurdity of the word of today and it very well done !!
I think the funniest thing is not the articles but people who think the information is real ahahaha !
So if you want to improve you english, laugh a lot and learn about fake informations, you have to read the onion Very Happy
So here you have an article on the recent Kevin Spacey affair ! Enjoy it Razz

Hello John, I watched the website that you recommended, it was so funny but so sad where are not many things to see, but I found an article in which talks about a discovery that in Australia the scientists found a grass who tastes like spicy sour chips.

In fact, the chips are mainly seasoned by the plants or the fruits of plants like peppers, lemons or fennels…Most of seasoning matter come from the plants, but it is interesting to find a grass who combined two popular flavors in the same time. The spicy plants is quite common, but the vivgary is hard to see between the plants. The acetic acid is the product of the chemist reaction who are generally considered a reaction of degradation. Hard to imagine that imagine that this magic grass can be tasted like vinegar. So the nature is quite beautiful and we have so much things to discover!

Hello everybody,
If you like design and especially packaging, I can recommand you to see this website: http://www.thedieline.com/

The Dieline gathered nexs and events about packaging design worldwide. This is an intersting website for Marketing packaging student because we can follow all the currents affairs and it's related directly with the success of product and brand.
It goal is to highlights the importance and value of packaging design for brands in today’s world, so we can find good informations, valuable contents, for exemple the selection of best pack of the week, Pack fun and friendly, etc. Also, the website encourage young designer and brand to question their own work and hold themselves to the highest standards possible through conferences and The Dieline Awards !
For me it's a good website for inspiration and for staying up to date !

In the designarea, I recommand you "Journal du design"
http://www.journal-du-design.fr/

It was a very interesting website with very diversified projects !
There are small articles about "not just design" (product, space, graphics,...) about also house architecture, interior architecture, "plastic artist" (from "beaux arts" or "arts plastiques").
It could be product or projets for industrialization (production series) or unique piece (artistic work, "work of art" or masterpiece). This website promotes not just applied art but arts and crafts ( and craftsperson). It permites at young designers and artistic creators to show their work to large public.

I wanted to present you a very beautiful project that I found last year on this website : The Abyss Table : cyclops

Hi Friends !

Today I want to talk about my website : http://www.asos.fr/?hrd=1 . Many people know Asos but I chose it because this WebSite help me to pay my clothes under the real price.

First of all, this website is for those who want to buy clothes but don't find lot of things in the stores. Furthermore, they have a Market Place where we can find clothes from all over the world, vintage, classic... We have multiple choice. And their add campaign in their home page confort me in my choice. Their is black, white, fat, skinny, women, men, neutral gender people... It's conform with one of my values : the respect of the individu (I'm against the bodyshaming, slutshaming, racisme, and I agree with gender identity, make up for men...) This picture is representative of what I believe in :

This website permit you to buy your clothes under the real price. Only for you, I will explain how to pay cheaper your shirt than other clothes' website. So, if you change the currency from € to £, the conversion rate permit you to buy your clothes with a different price !! Then, instead of paying a shirt 170€, you are going to pay 135€

Exemple :

We didn't choose a discussion subject! Captur10

And : 121£ = 135,97€, it's different than 170€ ! 35€ cheaper Wink And if you pay with PayPal you don't have bank charges Wink

Hi everybody !
Your websites are very interesting.
I would recommand the site :https://mrmondialisation.org/
MrMondialisation is an informal, french, and citizen think tank with an international focus, symbolized by an anonymous person wearing a Venetian Bauta.
Its goal is to fuel open debate in the public sphere around the major global and local issues of our time (environment, culture, society, globalization, poverty...).
It's not a big website, but It has a special point of view, and can be really relevant.

Hi everyone !

I advice you to take a look on "LSA commerce et consommation" is a web search tool on stores, central and commercial.

So it a good tools for our marketing work !

We can explore all the news of the market, marketing and consumption, trends and innovations.
For example, the tab market offers articles by product universe "drinks, on the bio, ..." or articles on the industrial "ikea, always fit, multiplies the approaches of the customer".
Moreover, we can find there studies on the consumption "M-commerce: why the millenial is a different consumer".

But some items are paying.

An exemple of article on the use of social networks ;-) :

Helloooo,
I chose the site Netflix, I know everyone knows but I think that watching series and movies in original version is the best way to improve his English! It's so good a method that we have a topic in the forum about that aha
And this site is also good because it is a legal site but of course paying, the price has also recently increase I am quite sad.
But the most practical is to split the price of the subscription with friends or family because several accounts are possible per subscription.
It is a site that is often renewed, with new films and series of all categories. What is interesting is that there are many original series produced by Netflix and are often very good!
