Re: Group A S2W01 - Walt Disney movies and World
Hello everyone,
Walt Disney is an American production company well known for its animated movies for children and families. In 2012 after several months of negotiation, Disney bought LucasFilms which produced the Star Wars movie in order to benefit from the franchise success producing a new trilogy and side movies.
Last year, The Last Jedi episode was projected in Cinema all over the world and have experienced a very successful launch. However some fans have presented their disappointment to Walt Disney through a petition asking the company to remove The Last Jedi from Star Wars Saga. In fact, they think that the new movie does not respect the spirit of the fantasy universe and to be too commercial.
What do you think about this last Star Wars episode ? Disney have announce that another new trilogy will be produced after 2019, do you think it could be too much or are you enthusiast ?

Good question..! I saw severals films but not the last, I hesitate to see him because the différents opinions that I could saw, dissuade me.
So you saw this film ? What do you think about him ? No spoil me please, but say me, if this movies respect or not the spirit of the fantasy universe.
For me, Walt Disney represent the dream, and their animation ;
I grew up with this film :
The Lion King is my all-time favorite animation (Even you can say movie in general). The Lion King as immersive as he made the Jungle Book, and shape our viewpoints of these amazing characters such as Simba, Scar, and Nala where there is a lot of potential.
It's my favorite, but I saw other films when I was kid and I don't regrett..!
Sometimes I happen to watch Walt Disney animations, which reminds me of my childhood not you ?

Hello unnie, I’m not really into Star Wars movie so I didn’t see the last episode ^^’
Like many people here, I used to watch cartoon and animated film by Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios, also an American company of production of movies in three-dimensional images of synthesis. Since 1995, Walt Disney coproduced lots of feature film project with Pixar and decide to buy the company in 2006. Then, Pixar became a subsidiary of Walt Disney Studios renamed Walt Disney Animation Studios. Today, the most famous movies distribution companies in the world are Walt Disney Pictures, Warner Bros. and Sony Pictures.
So, I will talk about Coco that is one of the most sophisticated of all Disney and Pixar animations for me. The movie deals with the Mexican culture and specifically the celebration during the Day of the dead. When I saw the teaser, I thought that I must see it! It is a simple story, not extraordinary: Miguel, a young Mexican boy (12 years old), don’t understand why his family is against the music and allow him to play guitar. So, he’ll resolve the family problem between the world of the dead and the living. I was really surprised by the graphism, it’s a colourful movie and visually it’s wonderful! We can even see all details of the skin like the face’s fuzz or the facial expressions, the accuracy is impressive!! Also, I think this a beautiful movie that introduce the death with a “soft and joyful” way because the scene is during the Day of the Dead that is not necessarily a sad moment. The main character is lovable, you took pleasure to follow his adventures. And at the end you’ll be carried away by a tide of emotion. That’s why I cried my eyes out! ^^'
I really like those movies that not talks about princess with lovey-dovey stories just like this movie Coco or Moana that are more cultural. It was a pleasure to see the Polynesian culture and tradition highlighted. Now I’ve discovered the Mexican culture, I just want to go there!
I know that I’m a big child! Like you said Gwen, it reminds me my chilhood thats why I'll continue to watch animations. And you guys, what do you like in Disney animations?

Re: Group A S2W01 - Walt Disney movies and World
For me Walt Disney is all my childhood with cartoons that we watched with tapes.
these films are classics that all children must look at even if today we can see certain forms of racism or give a bad image of the woman. It was not until 2009 with the princess and the frog to have a black heroine, so for Mulan and Pochontas who came out late compared to previous cartoons with the white princesses in their realms. So there was the stereotypes of the princesses who were waiting for Prince Charming all along the movie. Today the cartoons are more diversified because the heroines no longer look for Prince Charming, but are more rebellious.
I look forward to the release in 2018 of the Incredibles 2

Hi !
I don't watch Star Wars either because I don't like science fiction movies.
But, like Gwenaelle, I like the Lion King and like you Aurélie I liked Moana. This is an interesting cartoon that evokes the Polynesian culture.
In general I like Disney cartoons, many are cult, like the Book of the jungle, Snow White, or Pinocchio, Bambi. The disney cartoons are intergenerational, indeed the perimant dates from 1937, it is Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs. Films that are old but are still watched and known today. Indeed, people all know at least one Disney movie, which they have already seen. The one who marked my childhood is Peter Pan. This is the story of a little boy who refuses to grow up and who lives in an imaginary mode.
And you, what is your favorite Disney? Which has impressed you the most?

Re: Group A S2W01 - Walt Disney movies and World
Hello everybody !
I'm sorry but I don't watch lot of Disney Movie... But during my childhood I watched some cartoon that are not very famous like "Bartok the magnificent". Everytime, when I talk about that, people look at me with big eyes because they never heard about this cartoon.
I agree with some of you. Indeed, there is so much that I have to reproche to Disney Movie. For example, the fact that the woman is always waiting for his charming prince (I agree with you Virginie), and mens are seen as "the savior", the strong and beautiful man help the poor girl...... that's so boring and so stereotyped. But, I have to admit... it changes, and we see more princess with more courage. I hope that Disney continue to take into account the evolution of the society ! Maybe we can hope a Disney Movie without a binary vision on gender. And for those who think that isn't a good idea :
Agent Pleakly in Lilo & Stitch is transgender for example and nobody is dead

Re: Group A S2W01 - Walt Disney movies and World
Hello everyone !
I'm a big fan of Disney, I love all the movies, I still look often with my little sister it reminds me of my childhood!
Disney movies were an integral part of my childhood, I love princesses and I went to Disneyland several times, I love the magic created by Disney!
My favorite movie is Aladdin but I also loved The princess and the frog because Disney put forward a black princess with a special story that changed the usual princess!
But like Gwenaelle, I like the Lion King
And like Andrea, I know all the Disney music
As for Star Wars, I watched the movies when I was younger but I did not see the latest movies because it does not interest me too much!

Hi everybody ! Buenas tardes a todos de Granada !
Lot of people find me strange when we speak about Walt Disney because I have all the time the same reply ! I am sorry ... but unlike you, I don't like at all Walt Disney pictures....It's not my chilhood like Virginie, my mother refused that we looked Walt Disney movies....Moreover we didn't have TV when I was a little girl. My mother said that it was not the "real life" and Walt Disney created "false world" in which humans "get lost". Then, I never looked a lot TV and I just know title of Walt Disney movies. It is difficult to me to explain but I feel myself like "foreigner" at Walt Disney World. I think it is because I never had the possibility to learn about it.
Here, in Granada, I did not find much reference to Walt Disney World, I don't know if Spanish people like Walt Disney. I am going to make inquiries into the situation...
The place where I am !
Kiss from Granada !
