China is a country where there are many traditions like for example martial arts, calligraphy, music, Chinese gardens, games, religion, etc...Currently China is called the "People's Republic of China". China has created many inventions like compass, paper, bank note, black powder… As regards sports results, China is currently the second nation in the world, behind the United States. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, China finished for the first time at the top of the gold medal standings, before the United States (and second for the total number of medals).

China is not well regarded in terms of sports and especially in the world of football.
During the 2016 winter mercato, Chinese clubs spent €337 million on player purchases, the same amount as the English Premier League and Italian Serie A combined. These young footballers, who take the risk of disappearing from radar screens in Europe to enter in China, are depriving themselves of progress and playing in a competitive and high level league.
The Chinese are giving themselves 20 years to succeed and organize the 2026 Football World Cup and, if possible, win it. Except that in China, children have so far preferred to play table tennis or badminton rather than football.

China is a country of the East, it is one of the most populated countries of the world.
China is also the world's largest economic power in terms of GDP. But it is also one of the most polished countries in the world because of the massive use of oil and coal. China is therefore strongly involved in global warming.

This week we have to talk about China, but what is China without its food. So I'm going to talk about a Chinese dish, the duck lacquered. Peking duck is a traditional Beijing-based duck cooking recipe from Beijing cuisine. It is a symbol of China and Chinese cuisine. The duck is lacquered, its skin is shiny and crispy after being roasted for several hours.

Week 4 Discussion : China Empty China

Post by mjarrau Sat Feb 02, 2019 7:54 pm

I would like to say a few words about China, but more specifically about the "Chinese medicine" which is more and more present in our country.
More than 2,500 years old, Chinese medicine is a complete health system influenced by Taoism and Confucianism. Chinese medicine has always been talked about in Western countries, such as France. The question I've heard most about this medicine is "But is it really working?"

Chinese medicine made its appearance in the West in the 1950s. Different from Western medicine in its way of thinking about human beings and illness, it aroused both curiosity and skepticism.

Apart from all that, China is a country where I would like to go. Visiting the big cities do not tempt me much but visiting the more natural places such as the wall of China would please me.

I would like you to talk about China. It is one of the largest countries in the world with nearly 1.4 billion inhabitants. This country is run by a communist policy. The culture of martial arts, traditions and arts is prevalent throughout the country. Chinese food is one of the best known in the world. She is very good but she is not very dietary.
China is the world's leading economic power. Unfortunately, this beautiful country is one of the most polluted countries. Indeed, we often attach to China, the image of Chinese wearing a mask at the mouth to block the fine particles in the air.
In China, the most influential sports are badminton, table tennis and volleyball. These are sports where the Chinese excel.

This week, the subjet is China, is very popular country of Asia. It’s big territory with more 1,404 billion of population and covering approximately 9,600,000 square kilometers. In China there is an other culture than in France, is a traditional food with lot of rice, sushi and the bean products, such as tofu and soy milk remain as a popular source of protein. So this country didn’t have anythings to do with a european country.

China is the country in Asia between Russia and the Japanese archipelago. It is the country with the largest population (more than 1 billion), and also the most polluting country being a developing country. There is the Chinese Wall which is one of the most famous tourist monuments. It is also a country that has a lot of culture depending on these different regions.

When I think of the word China, there is a lot of things that come to my mind, but the most important thing would be the word culture. Indeed, Chinese culture is really different from ours, because of its food, its values, or even the language.

chinna is one of the biggest countries in the world and they have the biggest population in the world. China is an emerging country and the country is challanging the most powerfull country in the world, the USA and they are challanging them in every topic such as the cultural topic, the economic topic, the militar topic
china became a emerging country after the comunist revolution led by mao zedong
the chinese population is very big so they had the only child law, the demografic problem with this law is that the population gets older and does't have young people to «replace» the old ones
nowadays china has some big cities like shangai or beijing who are the head office of some big companies known worldwide

Week 4 Discussion : China Empty Re: Week 4 Discussion : China

Post by fbourdet Sun Feb 03, 2019 9:38 pm

Since 2005, China has been the country producing the most industrial or municipal waste with 300 million tonnes per year, with less than one-fifth of urban waste being treated in an environmentally sustainable manner. This pollution entails long-term risks to the health of the population which have been evaluated at a figure of 750,000 deaths per year (cancers, pulmonary diseases, etc.); the subject is so sensitive, and at the same time so difficult to quantify, that China has asked the World Bank to omit these estimates now. The statement made by Pan Yue, deputy minister of the environment in China, is alarming: the acid rain falls on a third of the territory; a quarter of the population does not have access to drinking water; one-third of the urban population exudes contaminated air. Cadmium, after polluting the water, would be present in a large part of the rice production. In addition, the country lost in 2004 nearly 800 300 hectares of arable land, including 145 000 hectares because of the construction of real estate and 63 700 as a result of natural disasters. From 1997 to 2004, the arable land area decreased by 5.7%, a net loss of 7.46 million hectares over this period.
According to estimates by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, the agricultural sector still accounts today for 15% of China's gross domestic product and provides 40% of all jobs. A share that stood at 71% in the late 1970s87. This sector is therefore, despite recent industrial development, a significant part of the Chinese economy. More than 700 million people live in rural areas, with very large migrations to cities. The income of Chinese farmers, however, more than tripled between 1980 and 2000, which largely contributed to the reduction of poverty in the country. 400 million Chinese living in rural areas emerged from poverty between 1979 and 2002.
But despite these problems, China remains one of the only surplus countries in the world.

I wanted to talk more specifically about Shanghai, indeed Shanghai is the largest city in the country with 24 million inhabitants. There is the Bund which is made to walk along the river, there is also Yuyuan Garden. Shanghai also has a tower 632 meters high. China has 1.3 billion inhabitants, which is huge compared to other countries.

china is a country with a culture and an important historical heritage. Indeed China has magnificent monuments like the Great Wall that millions of tourists visit each year. Moreover, we can see that China is gradually becoming involved in the dynamics of globalization in addition to being one of the great workshops of the world.

I will tell you about all the languages specifically used in China. Russian is not mentioned because it is not a local language.

The official language is Mandarin, but there are 39 sub-languages that are spoken in different parts of China.

English is the first Western language, spoken in second language by about 10 million Chinese, mostly from the elite and wealthy classes. There is a small minority of native English speakers in Hong Kong, Macao, and the rest of China, but not more than 21,000 speakers. Russians are about 15,000 to 20,000 people in China.

2.200 years ago, the game that later turned into football (soccer) was invented in China. The world’s first soccer ball was a leather ball filled with feathers and hair, and the game was called ‘Tsu’ Chu,’ which literally means ‘kicking ball.
With more than 1.4 billion people, China holds the world record for having the largest population on Earth. India is not far behind though with 1.3 billion people, and they’re estimated to take over the 1 place in a few years.
But to this date, China can pride themselves on having the largest population in the world
