Post by Léa ABREU Mon Mar 04, 2019 10:36 am

Hi guys, I wanted to talk about new types of diet. I am really interested about this subject ! I am not vegan at all but I try really hard (because I looooove cooked meats and cheese) to eat less meat during the week... I find that really hard to have a "special" diet when you're hanging out with your friends or even to change you cooking habits... But I have to say that I was really surprised that eating vegan was way CHEAPER than meat-based-food.

What do you think about those new types of diet ? Would you try it ?? Are you vegan ? Give me your opinion and position about it !

Hey ^^
I'm not vegan, but I don't really like meats that much, that's why my mother wanted me to becom!!xe vegan or vegetarian at least. The probleme, and I know it's a bit "cliché" is that I adore chicken and eggs, and I can't stop eating them. However I think that trying to reduce your consumption of meats is a googd thing. In fact I learned that eating more vegetables and less meats can be a goof way to increase you're joy/good mood, and to decrease stress.
I think that vegan is agood think as long as you know how to eat it because pepole have to be careful and choose vegetables that can bring them proteins so that they have all nutritional values they need.

Hello !
I want to eat less meat too because I think we don't need all this quantity of meat in a day. Furthermore, it could help to decrease intensive livestock and I discover animal condition were horrible. So, I often use vegetables in different way like in galette, it make me feel like I eat meat but it's not. In Bordeaux, I used to live with vegans and they show me that my prejudices were false. For example, I thought vegans could eat nothing at least but they actually eat a lot of different meals ! I can't be vegan because I like meat but it depend of each person and it has to be a choice.

Hi ! As everyone knows, I’m not a big cook. I am not vegan or vegetarian because I like meat, cheese and especially fish. I respect those who have the strength to become and remain vegan. I agree with Chloe, I think we don’t need to eat a lot of meat and fish, and that’s why I don’t mind eating only vegetables sometimes. I’m trying to reduce meat more and more because I think it’s better for the environment and the planet, but not ready to become vegan.

For the beginning of the year, I discovered that Le Monde newspapers promoted "Green Mondays". It's just one day in the week where you don't eat meat, I thinks it's a good way to be used to that lifestyle. There is TV advertising about Flexitarian lifestyle too, I was surprised to see that the French government support this but I agree with that.
And Léa, I didn't learn to cook vegan recipes but I tasted it like chocolate desert with amaranthe for example or spanich lasagnas. I discovered a lot about cereals and legumes ! It was weird for me at first but it's just a question of mentality and behavior, let the "old fashion" down and be open-minded.

Sorry guys but I LOVE CHEESE (and also roast-beef) so I can't be vegan, maybe vegetarian.... But I do think it's really important do reduce our meat consumption in order to help the environment. As all of you said they are so many reasons to become vegan:
1) It's cheaper than eating a "normal diet" because meat and good cheese are so expensive
2) It helps reduce CO2 emissions. Cows reject more carbone in the ozone layer than cars Shocked
3) Your body doesn't need you to eat flesh everyday. You can also find proteins and every nutriments you need with other ingredients (for exemple I know that chickpeas and lenses are great).
I think we shouldn't be obsessed with this : let me explain, if you reduce your consumption it's ok, you can still eat a good steak once a week. You don't have to be a straight vegan. And also if you don't do it correctly you can endanger your healthiness.

PS: I tried vegan Panna Cotta with coconut milk today. It's great, really easy to do and vegan Wink

I totally agree with you Léa !! The main point is to reduce ! The fact is, if you reduce your consumption of flesh you can eat more qualitative products (and enjoy more by the way) !!

Did you cook your vegan Panna Cotta ??? Could you give us the recipe ?

Hi guys and nice topic bytheway Smile

So from my personal experience, meat is not very important in my diet . I only eat meat sometimes in weekends since i live alone  Laughing

But when i go back home in Italy is another story ... meat or fish are essential in the diet !!!
And i have to be honest i don't think they are essential for my body .. i mean if in the future i need to be vegetarian this will not be a problem for me Smile
but vegan??? i don't think i will have the courage for that ... you really have to delete a lot of things from your diet and you have to check everything you eat  Rolling Eyes it's not for me !

Hi, it's definitely impossible for me to be vegan. I really love the animal but stop eating cheese, meat, egg... No ! I like that so much.
If some people want to do that Ok, but for me it's impossible. I like food and I'm not a fan of vegetable Mad

Hello, it's a very good idea to speak about vegan. It's like a style to become vegan but it's also an idea to save our planet and to change our way of life. Today, I'm not ready to become vegan but I am beginning to reduce my meat's consumption : I am flexi LOL Wink But I know meat's impact on the world and that's why I prefer to eat french meat and more precisely local's meat.

Hello everyone!
It's true that a lot of people nowadays, all over the world, are becoming vegetarian or vegan.
It's a good thing that people are becoming more and more responsable for the environment.
BUT!!! It's not for me mostly becoming vegan! I don't eat a lot of meat because it's not healthy but I love eggs, cheese and I can't imagine how can I can make this :/
