The original title is “Enemy at the gates”
This film is British , Irish, German and American

Stalingrad it is a war film directed by Jean Jacques Annaud in 2000.
The main actors are Jude Law, Rachel Weisz, Joseph Fiennes, Bob Hoskins. This film is based on the real confrontation between Vassili Zaitev, hero of the Russian Patriotic War and his rival. This film takes place during the Second World War in the USSR in the city of Stalingrad. The Germans are at the gates of the city and the fighting between Soviet and German will begin.
To defend themselves, the Soviet send in the battle a lot of civilians .Among them is Vassili Zaitsev, a young man showing great shooting skills. With the commissioner Ivan Danilov, he kills many germans.

A propaganda is made in the country to show Vassili as an exemplary soldier. He becomes a national hero and he is an example to motivate the Soviet soldiers. Vassilli meets Tania, the woman he will love gradually and a young boy Sacha who will be a spy and will help Vassili. To respond to attacks, the German use a sniper, Major Konig to eliminate Vassili.
After many and fierce fighting , vassili will win . He will find Tania, he thought she died during an attack.

I love this movie because the Second World War is a period of history that interests me enormously. Furthermore Jude Law is excellent in this role. I cried a lot because this film is very affecting.
This film is part of a dark and austere atmosphere. But at the end the music is joyful, germans are defeated .
For me it's a great film because it is exciting, realistic, there is action and a beautiful love story, it's perfect!
