Semester 2 Week 4
Gambling. Is it an illness? Is it curable? Does the government do enough to control gambling? Online gambling? Age? Help ? ...
Re: Semester 2 Week 4
Gambling is definitely a disease but I think like alcohol and drugs it can be cured with "withdrawal" and therapy.
The government doesn't do anything to control the game, I don't think there is a ceiling and the age control leaves something to be desired, it's so easy to lie.
In addition, when you register on an online gambling site, money is offered to start, this encourages you to play.

Betting is a game, most often of money that consists of betting on the person or teams of our choice. The goal is to win money or at least win the money wagered by betting on the winners. It is a game of chance that is dangerous, where one can become addicted. There are different ways to be able to bet either directly in a tobacconist or through various applications such as "Unibet", "Betclic", "Netbet", "PMU", "Bwin", ...

Gambling in itself is not a problem, but becoming addicted can be.
Like any addiction, it can be treated, but it's very complicated, because people can lose everything. The government does not do enough to secure gambling, we must indicate our age but we can lie.

Re: Semester 2 Week 4
Gambling is the practice of a game associated with a financial incentive at the end of the game. Each player commits a certain financial amount in the game, which will be all or part lost, or which will be increased in the event of a win. These games are mostly games of pure chance, or reasoned chance. Gambling addiction can have dramatic consequences. "Gambling is like alcohol: it's both a medicine for depression, unemployment, the misfortunes of life and it's a poison." The law normally prohibits the sale of gambling to minors, both at points of sale and online. The earlier gambling begins, the greater the risk of becoming a problem gambler.

Gambling is like alcohol, in small doses it's good but if it's all the time it becomes a disease. I think it is important to be careful and to play in moderation, at the risk of becoming addicted and losing a lot of money. The government, especially for the casino, has certain restrictions if you become addicted, with the prohibition to play because you are registered in the databases. For online gambling on the other hand there are not many restrictions, a wise minor will know how to play. There are a lot of risks for online games, especially because of the diversity and the advertising on them. Many become addicted at a young age.

Billy Walters is one of the people who won the most money on a sports bet, even sees the person with the biggest win (at least among the known wins, which represents only a portion of the winnings in sports bets). It was in 2010 that Billy Walters decided to bet on the match between the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts at the Super Bowl 44. Finally, he won more than three million euros on this match.
He has also made a lot of sports betting, and has often won very large sums of money, which shows that it is not only a story of luck, put well a story of skill that develops over time.

Re: Semester 2 Week 4
Gambling is like alcohol or tobacco, it should not be abused. Unfortunately, for some people it becomes much more complicated when the addiction sets in. Most gambling is a matter of luck. Either you win all the bet, or you lose everything. And this system is a huge incentive for people to try their change again and again. It then becomes more than a piece of pleasure but a real necessity. So there are two options: get richer, get poorer. Fortunately, minors do not normally have access to these gambling games, for a question of liability. But I find that the government is not doing its job properly and is not preventive enough with the population on the risks of gambling.

I'm not against gambling but you have to play in moderation. Money is a source of frenzy, it is difficult to stop. When I go to the casino I only take a certain amount of money with me, so it is impossible to go overboard and let myself be tempted. The games are addictive, but there are many things in life that are addictive, and if we remove all of these things, there wouldn't be much left. It is the duty and the good will of everyone to control themselves.

Gambling is dangerous because once you start it can quickly become addictive and you can't do without it. I wouldn't say it's a disease but it can become an obsession (therefore an addiction), and when you don't play you don't feel well for example. It is quite curable, we can go see a specialist to help us. I think the government is not doing enough to control the game. They even push people to gamble, to bet by making ads. They see that it makes them money. So gambling is dangerous and you can quickly fall into it without realizing it, you can even leave everything you have there.

I hope gambling is an illness because I can't beleive people are stupid enough to trought their money again and again even if they lose. I can't imagine my self being addict to gambling so i have difficulties to have any compassion to the guys suffering of gambling addiction. Moreover, it is often man aged 35 or more, so they maybe have a family, a job, ... Running into gambling and destroying what they built before, sorry I do not understand them.

Re: Semester 2 Week 4
I like gambling, betting money, something important, makes the game more interesting, more stressful. I go from time to time to the casino with my friends, I play roulette most often.
I bet on football too, I like it and I win quite often, I follow all the football matches, the performances of the teams and the players and I bet only when I am sure of myself most of the time.
I am all the same reasonable, I know how to stop when necessary. And so far I've made more money than I've lost.
