Post by Anthony Bardy Wed Feb 25, 2015 12:27 am

Hello everybody
I never went to study abroad and I regret. Last year, I hesitated to leave in Erasmus but finally I stayed in France. I thought I was not enough good in English, so I would struggle during this stay. Now, I would like to leave in a foreign country next year to improve my English. I think Erasmus is rewarding (enrichissant) for students who go to another country as well as students who stay in France and who welcome foreigner students. For example, here in Poitiers, there are many Chinese students especially in our class, and this is very instructive to speak with them. They have a very different culture. Moreover, we learn many words in Chinese elephant

Bye Bye!

Hello, John and everyone! Wink

I am not belong to the programme of ERASMUS because it's not a travel in europeen but it's may got to  a programme more difficult because it's more far away , more longterme and more the difficulties b from because it's so different from my country .

I am totally agree with XINYUAN that I am much more stronger and independante than before after the experience here.  albino
I have not only learn the languages and knowledges but also find the world much more huger.

As told by much of the article and statistics , foreign study experiences strengthen key transversal skills which are highly valued by employers.

However nowadays in China , there is more and more the students going abroad, graduates with international experience fare not much better on the job market than the periode before.

So the question is : What we should really learn  to be competente in the market of job in concurrence with other students who can be graduate from very good university in China? What can we do more to specialise?

At the end I want to say that I really enjoy this experience and if I have a chance to remake a choice, I will take the same choice to come in France. And after I want to do sth meaningful for the relationship between China and France if it is possible.
I love you

JIANG Zhen

Third week Discussion - Page 2 Empty Erasmus Impact

Post by philippe.emmanuel.emmou.c Wed Feb 25, 2015 9:31 am

Yo everybody Wink ,
For sur if we Will allowed to participate at Erasmus Program, you are an huge plus even if you are not pass a GOOD experience.

But after for me it depend to futur job. If You work for an firme witch Exchange just with french firme, work placement or work experience are more important than that. If you work for an international firm but your Targets are Several operations in your country, you don't need too.

But finally, don't realise This type of Program is an advantage because acquire lot of life experience witch you Can use for to improve your life. And became better.

IN CONCLUSION ; I Will be disapointed if i Can't realise that.

Question I noticed that my message hadn't been posted..
So I do it again ..

No matter if it is with Erasmus program or not, today with the globalization we have to go abroad. It's important to exist in the working world. It's my point of view but it becomes the one of everyone (especially professionals). This experience brings lots of things. First of all, you grow up because you are living in an unfriendly environment compared with your nest. You have to get used to this new elements (strange food or behaviors) but I promise, you will survive. Yes you can.  Secondly, you make OUTSTANDING strides. You learn every day new vocabulary, you ear NATIVES ( and not a french teacher who teaches you English..) and above all you speak ALL THE TIME  and have to answer QUICKLY . And the only way is to practice !
And no, to be french isn't enough. We have to speak english or other languages even if you will not be the next business man of the world. You will become wealthy, not with money but with a new way of living. And personally, I will travel during all my life; not for my job but for me. I hope to go as far as the Chinese students made for their studies..

Hi John ,
I'm sorry to respond, I have been focus on preparing my visa documents this two weeks
Being a foreigner, I think studying abroad is a good advantage, this semester I participate the Erasmus which is my honor to participate cause I can discover the news things and make friends , living on abroad is a challenge for me , at the beginning , the life would be difficult and at the same time I have to adapt the different language and success in my studies
Although , studying abroad is hard , these will be advantages and good experiences for my life continuant and will be advantages for my career life, they let me have skills to adapt new environment and expand my wide vision , get the knowledge that we can’t learn on the class . whenever I have chance to join in the exchange program , I wanna catch it

Hello,
Studying abroad has advantages and disadvantages. On one hand it is an added value for the curriculum vitae, but on the other hand the main difficulty is being far from the family. Traveling abroad or (even better) having an international experience means that you discover and appropriate different cultures, languages, styles of living... It shows how open minded you are. But I don’t think someone who hasn't had this kind of experience will always be disadvantaged over someone who has. In fact it depends on the job application. If the job is oriented internationally, those experiences will count, otherwise it won’t. In some cases “local” education is way enough to find or to keep a job. For instance, the French education is a reference for many companies, even though, I personally think it is overrated. German, Swedish or even Israeli educations are more efficient, for many reasons: first of all, French education is very theoretical while others are more about practical. And languages are not a plus in this education.

Hello everyone
I am very happy to study in France, I was in France in 2013, I learned to cook as well as independent living, but I think more importantly, I learned to grow. In France, there are many advantages and disadvantages to learn , first of all , for the advantage , I mastered a language , understand and adapt to a new culture ,that means, I have an experience a new culture. And I can also obtain a plethora of skills. In France, I have made a lot of foreign friends. For the shortcomings, I had to go personally to the supermarket to buy food, And in France, consumption levels are higher than in China. I am a long way from home in an emergency, for someone, Being so far away may sound exciting, but it can be daunting as well. Once, my friend in France is sick, she does not even know how to go to the hospital because of the difference of the health system.

Hello,

There is no doubt that Erasmus is a good experience but it's not adapted to all the students, it is easier to learn English because Erasmus permits the proper environment, even though it demands a good capacity of adaptation. Friends, family or boyfriend aren't here and it can cause a depression if we are not prepared. The opportunity to discover another culture is very attractive but it's an important decision to go for one semester in other country. Thank's to Erasmus, I discover foreign students who come in Poitiers and it's very interesting to speak with them, it's another mentality. Thank's to them, I want to visit a lot of countries.

Hi

In my opinion Erasmus is a good experience to do. There is so many advantages, like practicing your English or learn the language of the country, discovering new cultures (even if the countries member of the partnership are mainly Europeans but it’s still very interesting), visiting nice places, studying in another university. But before doing all this thing, I think a certain level of maturity is required, like going to a country completely different of what we used to know can be very destabilizing. You will have to assume yourself.
But If you have the maturity and the motivation to do this, it will be very rewarding for you but also for future, having that on your CV can show a lot of things, it shows that you are open-minded, your language level and more.

Hi !
I just come back an studing exchange with Argentina, and in my opinion, it's a really great experience.
That permit to meet many new characters en some new points of views. Most of all, it's the possibility to travel a lot and discover a new culture, language end country.
So if I can, I'll do an exchange one more time.
