Amazon Forest Empty Amazon Forest

Post by TISNE Floriane Tue Sep 24, 2019 2:33 pm

The Amazon forest is one of the most important forests in the Amazon. It is composed of nearly 390 billion trees ans 16000 different species. It is the largest reservoir of biodiversity in the world. There are nearly 60 times more “adult” trees in the Amazon forest than there are humans on the planet. This immense territory is threatened by deforestation: since 1970, about 18% of the original forest has disappeared due to deforestation and human activities. The diversity of plant species is the most important on Earth. Some experts estimate that a square kilometre could contain more than 75,000 tree types and 150,000 superior plant species. The Amazon is often portrayed as one of the least human-bearing primary forests. For the botanists, this virgin forest was nevertheless shaped by the activities of the ancient peoples who notably changed the distribution of the trees. In the region, deforestation essentially consists of converting wooded areas into agricultural fields. More than a fifth of the Amazon forest has already been destroyed, and the remaining one is threatened. In ten years, the area of forest lost in the Amazon reaches between 415,000 and 587,000 km2; by comparison, France has a total area (excluding overseas territories) of 547,030 km2. Most of the converted land is used to produce livestock feed.
For me, deforestation should absolutely be stopped because living species will be completely destroyed. There are already endangered species, but I think in 50 years or maybe less, all species will be extinct and will have no way of reproducing. Deforestation really hurts my heart, especially for all those animal species that live there.

Located in South America, the Amazonian forest is the largest forest in the world. It is also called the "lung of the world";. It is the largest reservoir of biodiversity in the world.
Indigenous peoples still live there but their environment is threatened by increasing deforestation.
Amazonian forest species are also victims of mass poaching.
Not long ago, it was affected by devastating fires.

Amazon Forest Empty Re: Amazon Forest

August 2019, the lung of the planet is on fire. Thousands of fire ravaged the Amazon forest during this summer, during the dry season. It is a kind of crisis because it is responsible for around 20 percent of the world's oxygen. This fire killed the biodiversity of the lung.
We have also the problem of the president Bolsonaro who wants to exploit the Amazon forest. In september 24, 2019 the president declared : "It is wrong to say that the forst belongs to the heritage of humanity". He accused many countries to be colonizer because UNESCO wishes to strengthen the international law to reinforce the notion of "common good". To Bolsonaro it's absolutly impossible that organisations such as UNESCO put its power on the amazon forest which belongs to him, according to him of course.

Do we have the right to say what another country does with its land and resources?

The Amazonian forests are made up of 390 billions trees and 16,000 different animals.. The Amazon rainforest is considered the lungs of the planet, like our house. For more than 2 months, our mother earth burns, And since July 2019, outbreaks of fire accumulate. August 10/2019, Sao Paolo is plunged into darkness. Immensely fire blows the Amazonian forest. Many people have mobilized in social networks with the #PrayForAmazonia or #PrayForAmazonas, and television has talked about it a lot too. the factors are natural and human. And the politicians accused the policy conducted by Tair Bolsonaro, the Brazilian president to be to the origin of this deforestation intensive.
Today the lungs of our planet are still burning.
