Final Discussion subject Group A
I nearly gave you the week off but after next Wednesday you may never see me again!
So the final topic is an evaluation of the English course this year. I've been teaching for a long time but I always try to adapt and improve my courses listening to the needs of the students as well as the requirements of the University. This is the first year that I set up an online forum for example, with the aim of supporting free written expression(which is often lacking in my courses) and for you in the second semester I ran a very structured relook at the basic tenses course alongside a TOEIC glimpse course. This follows on from the first semester where I tried to get you speaking. We've had presentations, watching TV for homework, business vocabulary, role play, an audio "controle", a video "controle", a partial TOEIC test, grammar and pronunciation. So what did you think? Feel free to let me know the positives and the negatives. You won't be marked down for criticism - it's how I adapt and improve.
I already have a few ideas of changes for next year's M1 classes and want to hear from you what worked and what didn't work.
So over to you...

Hi,
First of all, I find that the forum is a good idea. For me, write regularly in English is a good thing. We can write on different subjects. It's good for vocabulary. Work fundamentals is good to improve grammar skills. Moreover, you motivate us. Even grammar is not boring. It's important to learn English. However, the numbers of hours in the university is too low. Especially when we have difficulty. This is a problem that university could see again. About the negative point, we have no return on the errors of spelling, grammar on the forum. A summary ,at the end of the semester, with the" worst" errors could be a good idea.

Hi
Firstly, I find this forum very interesting. By taking part in these topics everyweek I practice my writing english. By this way, my english has been improved and I've also learnt many new words relating to weekly topics. My reading skill also developes. However, my sent articles everyweek are not being reviewed, so I'm clueless about it. If you have time, please consider this. Your revision can help us the students better.
Secondly, I really like your grammar classes, especially the examples you give, these are interesting since they are related to our classmates. In fact, I remember the friends' names with your examples.

Hi,
Sorry to be late but I totally forgot the forum this week. So like Benjamin I think the forum is a good idea to allow all the pupils who do not speak many of expressing themselves. Even if continuous to think that to speak is the best solution to improve a foreign language. The subjects are varied and they allow us to be interested in subjects in which we would have no necessarily granted of significance.
For my part the lessons of grammar really allowed me to make progresse (I think) even if I always make faults. I hope that i twill be a good thing for the TOEIC. But we don’t have oral anymore. A just mix of both would be needed but I suppose that the time does not allow it.
Finally to improve our English, there is not secret ; practise, practise and practise so practise

Hi ,
I think that the forum is a good idea because he allows to exercise his English. To fetch the necessary vocabulary to express himself.
Unfortunately we do not know if what we wrote is correct or not.
I think that it would be a good idea to give a free subject to the case or the student would have big no thing to be said on the proposed subject.

First of all, I've been on stage from January to May, so during eight months I don't speak or think in english, already that my english is not so good. So, this year you have set up a different system in class. It was really interesting to write on a subject every week on the forum and the grammatical section on a first group can be benefit for us because lots of persons be gaps (i'm not sure). With the little numbers of hours that university gave to English courses your lessons were entertaining, already with good mood..
So, thank you very much for this year, I hope to have you also next year ( in Master 2, let's hope ).

Hi,
I like the idea of an online forum. It's a space where you can express yourself, around other students on a same topic. Search and write about a subject, helped to improve my expression skills. It's also easier to type on forum than writing on a shit of paper. People speak more freely. Grammatical lessons helped me with the reading, the examples also might be funny, including classmate in the exercises makes them more real. The TOEIC tests gives us a clue about our level of understanding in various situations. English classes are made more interesting when you, the teacher. Involve us, the pupils in the courses. It was nice to have you for teacher.

Re: Final Discussion subject Group A
First, thank John for bringing me back the passion of learning English again. I had forgotten a lot English after I decided to study in French;
Your teaching methods is interesting, your lessons are not rigid but very diverse, alternating many skills lectures, listening, grammar, group discussion in the class. That is what makes us students feel excited, and our English skills are improved.
The group games, bring the students closer together, the actual example fun, a lot of sense of humour…
To talk about this forum, it’s a new method in order to learn and practice English at home when we know how to apply the development of information technology on learning. At first it was difficult to write a paragraph; but gradually I found it less difficult, and it helps us practice writing skills.
Thank You
