Final Discussion subject

I nearly gave you the week off but after next Wednesday you may never see me again! 
So the final topic is an evaluation of the English course this year. I've been teaching for a long time but I always try to adapt and improve my courses listening to the needs of the students as well as the requirements of the University.
I didn't teach the L3 course last year and (if I'm teaching it) there are many things that I'll change for next year but I want your input to make it a better and more suitable course for future students.
Over the year we've had presentations, watching TV for homework, business vocabulary, role play, a video "controle", a partial TOEIC test, authentic video comprehension, grammar, pronunciation and of course the online discussions. This is the first year that I set up an online forum, with the aim of supporting free written expression(which is often lacking in my courses).
So what do you think?
Feel free to let me know the positives and the negatives. You won't be marked down for criticism - it's how I adapt and improve. I want you to tell me what you liked, what you didn't like and what I need to adapt, add or remove to make the L3 course better for next year's students.

Hi John ! That was a very fun year ! I really enjoyed this english course because we had to speak in english every time, and the way you were conducting your course was trully enjoyable. You could develop this aspect of interaction next year, like group of discussion, this forum etc. But i also missed evaluation like oral comprehension, i think you could put more oh these in your class, next L3 have to suffer.

Hello John !
According to me, the second semester is better than the first because we have worked comprehension and grammar more intensively. I think the forum is a god idea because we have to write some arguments, organize our thoughts so we have to practice English!
The positives =>- interactive discussion in class
- Many presentations to have a better pronunciation and improve our flow speech.
- Preparation of the TOEIC test.
- Your cheerfulness, we are more able to speech English in this work atmosphere.
The negatives => only more grammar exercises or exercises in connection with economy.

We had great Nice english time with you.
We spoke a bit with other students and had to find ways to communicate even if it wasnt izi to understand some guys (BOSC).
We don't need grammar exercices to communicate in english so i don't think students realy have to focus on it.
I think the main objective of an english teacher is to have his student speak .
The negatives => a 0 apero lesson , when will we defeat that???we still only have 2 weeks

The first time I saw you I thinked you was a joke 
But in reality it was a funny year with you. You are a teacher that we can't forget.
The positive points:
-The forum is a good idea, I spent a lot a times to read all the posts and I learnt vocabularies.
-The video of Youtube is a good way to improve our oral.
-The TOEIC test. (We are very concentrated and it improve the comprehesion)
-You are the god of english
The negative points:
-Sometimes your sens of humour can be hurtful (funny for the other students but not for the person whom you are speaking)
-I don't like to know that it exist a video of me on Youtube.
-I would have liked to be in the group one to sleep longer.
But in reality it was a funny year with you. You are a teacher that we can't forget.The positive points:

Hello...
I always thought that oral speaking and vocabulary are two important parts of the language (almost the most important). In the last year, there is no doubt that we made a lot of practice of speaking, I really like your way of teaching. No matter what niveau of the English students in the classroom, we got full practice.
Compared oral practice, I think we learned relatively small part of vocabulary, for workplace or examination, the number of vocabulary is essential skill to know what the others say.
I also need to say thank you, we ‘used’ English in many ways, especially the video in YouTube, the Forum, etc. You are the best teacher! Ha ha ha

This year of english lessons was a little bit particular for me, on one hand because last year I didn't have english at all and on the other because your teaching way is very different of the way used by Mr Fur. There are a lot of good ideas and few bad things and I notice them. I think that to really increase our english level, we should have 1h30 of english lesson per week with the two teachers. The severity of Mr Fur about the english grammar and your insanity about the english speaking.
What I liked :
-The fact that we always speak during the lesson with a real english, and not only a french teacher of english like Mr Fur. It really improve our capacities to talk in english because you know better that every french teacher the english language.
-The lot of subjects what we broach in class or in the forum, from the education system in France to why the french and english don't like each others.
-Your jokes and your sense of humor, you are probably the craziest teacher I ever have, with my old history teacher who mimic a russian alcoholic.
What I disliked
:
-The "How to" video was a great idea because we can realize everything we want. But the ways to record the video weren't easy for everyone. I have a tactile tablet so I could rec my video easily. But I'm sure that they are students who didn't have the way to rec their video. If we have equipment that the university lend to us, it could be much better for the quality.
-I am maybe not the only one but speaking english at 8h30 is very difficult. It imply a real concentration effort. Next year, I hope that the lessons would be put back at 10h15 or 14h. I am sure that if the lessons have been at this time, I could reach a better english speaking in class.
-I think that you should explain more your way to mark students, because the participation mark is hard to understand.

his year English was for me the funniest for a very long time, it was both fun but also interesting.
I also liked to be able to hear and speak with a true English (my cousins are bilingual).
I regret that we have not had more topic related to the economy.
I will also present next year in master 1: p.

More seriously this year was according to me a very good year in English.
We feel free when we arrived in your lessons. Not preasure for tests or homeworks we didn't make. Just fun. And to learn a foreign language I think we need to take it with fun and amusement. That's what Erasmus is made for right? So it's an opportunity to make a part of it every week. The video was a good thing to see us talking and see our own errors and prononciations. But I think like Stephane, have a video on Youtube of us, is something disturbing. (I recognize that transfering videos, with a big size, is boring
)
For the negative points I think you maybe need to give more specific vocabulary in economy, maybe with one group in finance and the others in management. However taking back English bases isn't a bad thing, because we all need to revise them.
Other negative point: the TOEIC is good only for persons who want to pass the exam. Yes it's good to make exercice but I find long and boring the TOEIC exercices, sometimes it's harder to stay concentrate that the English himself .
To finish two things I liked this year:
- Working in group, normally it's something difficult because you got folder to make at home and it complicated the task. But here, it's the good utilisation. Only in class, to make students practice and that's the way it's usefull.
- Your jokes, it makes us learn what English humor is, drives the lessons in a coolest climate, and also makes us work our english.

Well,frankly speaking, you're a good teacher,because you emphasize the most important part I need - dont't care about anything, just speak out your english.
In fact,I can do myself listening and grammar exercise at home but it's really hard to practise my english speaking in this condition.
It is difficult to let the students learn a lot of economic vocabularies in a country where everybody speak french, because a languges is an instrument which we should practise regularly. We just can't require more in an one hour and a half class once a week. You're doing well, the only problem is desire of english studing of me.
I'll miss you if we don't see each other anymore. Take care

It is different from the french method, which tries to impose a complex method by using grammar and so on to improve our level. But progressing in english is only possible by speaking and speaking and speaking... And have a native teacher is an excellent advantage. I learned that with my semester in a full english speaking course. It doesn't matter to make mistakes, learning vocabulary is difficult and needs lots of time. But we have to speak ! The different methods (youtube, team work, online discussions) are perfect and show to us that in the future we need to speak english with others and succeed to make us understand. Above all you try to involve students; an english level can be preserved by using it only 30 minutes or 1 hour a day (watching a movie, reading a book ...). Thanks to you I made some progresses like to stop thinking in french to speak in english. So thank you !! I would have liked to have this type of lessons during my preparatory course to the entrance of business schools. And I will reproduce the same pattern with my coming pupils.

I think that before know how to write English properly you need to know to understand and speak it and it's what we do in your course. This is the first year of my life that I am happy to go to an English class !!
The forum allows to speak freely and read messages from other so progress in the expression and reading comprehension, that's interesting. The idea of the video it was fun to make I liked that.
The big downside of your course, it's that you support Leicester, be careful it's dangerous to health to lose as many games.But hey you like the Miami Heat and that's great !!

This year, this English course was great. In the past years, going to an English class was stressful and we didn't have that much fun. You made this course interesting and recreational. As you mentioned, it was more about oral expression than written, but personally, I think that's the best way to improve our English level. Creating this forum was a brilliant idea but you should evaluate and correct the mistakes made (grammatically, spelling errors…) on every posts, or make the others students make it. I appreciate the homework you gave like the TV series, the “how to video”, the presentations…. You should keep them for next year, but you probably should give more written exercises, and more group work. For the marks, you should detailed how they are divided: for instance tell how the final exam is weighted.
You should also make more subjects related to economics since we are in sciences eco and the course is called business English (that's not a criticism but a statement).

It's so sad because it's the last time that I speak on the Forum... that emotions
This idea to speak about this forum was a very good thing for us.
In spite of , litte conversation between us, we have to give our point of view about many topic.
Moreover, I enjoyed to make video, it was funny.
A negativ point is about toeic. As Mr Fur, we always do a toeic test but I don’t like this because some studients will not sign up at the toeic.
Before this year, I didn’t like very well English lesson because I was little stressed out when I spoke in oral, but with you I prefer speak in English.

Your lessons was interactive so it permits me to try to improve and participate in English, even if my level is pretty low.
Moreover, this TOEIC preparation allowed us to train in order to pass this diploma.
Finally, the idea of the forum is very good because it allows everyone to participate and give advice on subjects that are very interesting.
However, I would put a little flat for the video we put on youtube. It would also have the vocabulary to be more in line with our business.

I would say than this semester was so nice. It's very interesting have opportunity to speak English a lot. Most of all, I loved create the little movie and have fun in lessons. My only complaint is that the class of group 2 began at half past eight, while group 1 started at 10 o’clock!!!!!

Ok… I spent a really happy year with you, your class is always my most relaxed time in the numerous French courses, I have entertained, learned, make progress in oral. Although to some extent, the French influenced my level of English… but you gave me the motivation to learn English! I always feel that France put less emphasis on English education, once a week of English course does not really help to improve our English, but you give us the methods: the Forum, the English drama, oral practice, and then I feel greatly benefited from it. Thank you.

Hello John,
Your English class is the best English class that I had. Because we make a lot of oral comprehension and it's the best way for learn english, i think that this forum is good idea because we can shown our feelings about different topic and talk over between us.

It's regret that we won't meet again
because I will come back to China also this year. But don't cry,when you come to China you can send email to me and I invite you to visit my hometown who is very very very beautiful in winter.
Be honest, you are a very good and a funny teacher,the atmosphere in classroom is always very well especially you make the joke with John and Pierre. Speaking to your education, i think this year is better than last year,because you set the forum for us to discuss. Forum is a very convenient instrument and you can continue to use it to the students next year, I'm sure that they will like it also. In your class,I will not be bored because you gave us a lot of opportunities to speak and you will prepare different concepts for every lesson. I have no idea about negative point about English course because I like u very much.

I realize that English this year even though we had only 1 hour 30 a week really made me progress in English with your way of doing courses. I liked the place that you give oral in your courses and I think that makes us more advanced grammar courses that we can do with teachers who are not native England. The establishment of the forum is a great idea, it allows us to improve our writing and our reading comprehension by reading the work of others. Subjects over were really interesting, especially when we talk about the zero hour contracts, I don't know what it was and I was thrilled to know this new type of contract that is widespread in England.
Moreover, I find that your course was a fun aspect that must be kept, I have to appreciate the fact to present in class series we liked or at the beginning of the year to present a country we had chosen per group.
And of course I enjoyed your course for your good humor and jokes you were doing, even if it was difficult to get up early, thanks to your mood, we take fun coming your way.
At the points to see, it would make more topics related to the economy because we are students in economics so this is something important for us. And give more details of how you evaluate us.

I think your method is good. I practize English more with you than I ever do. With the low English level that I have, and the limited number of lessons each week, we can't progress if we don't speak English. So, speak English is more efficient than learn a lesson that I'll forget the day after.
Make video, speak English in class, Watch series at TV, is more usefull. We have to practize to like English. And if we like English, we will search to increase our level.
This is for me the better way to learn English.
The bad point is maybe the missing economic vocabulary ... But I prefer to learn how to use English, than learn vocabulary that I can't use beacause my level is too low.
