The recovery of my dance lesson Empty The recovery of my dance lesson

Post by Fanny GIBERT Sun Sep 13, 2015 5:31 pm

Saturday afternoon, after our long first week (we worked saturday morning...) at the faculty of sciences sport, which was even though very interesting, I went at my dance school for two hours of modern'jazz lesson. At the beginning we worked three exercises to warm up before really dance and consequently to avoid a potential injury. This 3 exercises are always repeated on music, and many times in order to use all of our muscles and our joints. After the warm up we worked other exercices called "displacements", our dancing master showed us a sequence of differents moves like dance step, jumps, pirouettes.... And finally we worked a little choreography which we repeated many times by groups of 4 dancers.
I'm really glad today because I don't have stiffnesses !
See you next week for a new topic !

Yes ! There is one boy who has got 15/16 years old, he looks very young but he's gifted ! Unfortunately there are only 3 boys in my school dance... I think it's not enough because it's not a "pansy's sport" like we hear frequently ! Sorry for the turn of phrase...

It's not, it takes strength, precision and dedication. Why do you think it has been promoted as a "girl's" activity?

I think it's because the history ! Before, boys should practise "activities for boys" like playing in football's team or rugby's team... Manly sports ! In this time dance wasn't judged like a sport. Moreover, like in school, boys and girls was separated in sport ! "Billy Elliot " is a good movie that illustrate this situation !

I agree.

Not sure it's seen as a "manly" sport yet but Billy Elliot was a great movie.
