House of cards

Hi everybody,

I will introduce a series that I have recently discovered: House of cards. It deals about USA politician world in a fictive moment nearly between (2011 and 2016).
Gareth Walker just elected as the Head of the USA thanks a great campaign lead by Franck Underwood a sharp of the policy world and Head of the Democrat Party who as the same time has convinced Walker to nominate Linda Alvarez as White House Chief of Staff.
But in return, Walker (with the advices of Alvarez) did not choose Underwood as Secretary of State.
Victim of treachery, Underwood decides to revenge and make both collapsed.
For this plan, he can count on his faithful wife Claire, lobbyist leading a environmental NGO.

Season 1 Episode 2:
Politician without scruples, Francis Underwood moves back in front of nothing to reach the supreme post. He manipulates Zoe Barnes, a young journalist who, in spite of her naivety, wins in influence within the writing of Washington Herald. The democrat would like that she publishes in the newspaper an article susceptible to put the White House in a very uncomfortable situation. It would be a question of trapping Michael Kern, new Secretary of State. From her side ,Claire, so ambitious, is decided well not to be allowed any more move. She does not hesitate to reduce by half of the staff of the foundation that she manages...

Season 1 Episode 3:
At the post of Secretary of State, Franck Underwood start a project of education law. But, he is attacked by a rival in his district for an incident which causes the death of a teenager. So he lets the negotiation with the syndicat to save the situation by convincing teenager's parent to not complain. Claire hires Gillian Cole ,a brillant young woman, to help her in their activity. Zoe continue her activity of reporting by making interview in TV. Hammerschmidt ,head of the Washington Herald, criticizes Zoe for this act. Turned in Washington, Franck advises the woman to leave the newspaper.

Season 1 Episode 4:
Bob Birch, Head of House of Representatives, refuse the project of law. Underwood decide to blame it in order to make him in difficulty. Franck impose to Peter Russo the closing of the Pennsylvania's shipyard which 12000 unemployed. This one falls in depression, restart to drink and to use heavy drugs. As a consequence, his girlfriend choices to quit him. That can't make better the situation of the poor guy.
Claire accepts the help of Remy Danton, a lobbyist, to achieve his projet in Sudan. Franck is furious because of he has to be now grateful toward him. So the couple decides to refuse the help of Danton.
In an other side, Zoe, appreciated by the chief of the newspaper, has a proposition of promotion.She decides to think...

Season 1 Episode 5,
Underwood has a sexual relation with Zoe Barnes, as it's by interest Claire doesn't matter. However, she takes advantages from the situation to review her friend Adam Gallaway, a famous photographer but she want to stay faithful toward her husband. Adam offers pictures to sell for Claire's gala of charity.
Modifications on the law create conflits between Underwood and Marty Spinella, chef of the Professor syndicate. This one throw a struggle against Underwood with demonstrations. This doesn't success. Russo fall in a deep depression after having lost Christina and the trust of the member of the Pennsylvania project.
Underwood proposes to help to become the governor of Pennsylvania but Russo must stop drugs and alcools.

Season 1 Episode 6,
Professors are in strike for a month. Underwood is under pressure by all the government. But he remains strong and elaborates a tricky plan. He simulates an attacks at home and accuses Spinella to be the author. Then, Underwood summons Marty to make him furious, and he succeed to make him violent. Thus, Underwood blackmail Spinelli for stopping the strike.
Russo, sober, accepts the proposition of Franck.

Season 1 Episode 7,
The success of the project of the education law puts Underwood in a throne. So, the vice-president Matthews feels useful and sad of this. To fight his demons, Russo participates yo the meetings of Anonymous Alcoholic. But, he needs the return of Christina to enjoy his life,
so with the words of Claire and Franck she decides to help her love and becomes her director of campaign. In an other side, Doug buy the silence of a hoe who names Rachel to makes clean the candidature of Russo.

Season 1 Episode 9,
Peter Russo campaigns across the Pennsylvania with the vice president Matthews who doesn't trust on the young candidate. But after, a discussion, Matthews realizes the motivation of Russo who wants to make everyone in its place. Underwood throw a new project of law on the environment and wish the helps of many politicians. Remy Danton returns to clear with his offer and she decides to accept because of the lack of support of her husband. In return, she has to avoid the project of law be accepted. That's a success. Franck is surprised and furious. He looks for culprits.

Season 1 Episode 12,
After the death of Russo and the nomination of Matthews as the post of Governor of Pennsylvania, Walker asks a substitute. He sends Underwood to evaluate an original candidate: Raymond Tusk, a billionaire businessman who lives in St Louis.
But, Franck understands quickly that this the opposite: Tusk, great friend of Walker, test Underwood to the post. He accepts the post but refuse to sign white cheque to Tusk's activities with China.

Season 1 Episode 13,
Claire wants to get children so she consults medicine. However, she dismisses Gillian for disobeying her. The woman pregnant use this weapon to complain. Claire makes her attractive proposition to avoid the judgment.
Jeannine, Zoe and Lucas investigate on the Russo's death and find a golden witness Rachel, supervised by Doug Stamper.
